Hahaha, I remember OctaMed. My older brothers had A500s then A1200s. I had a CD32 for a while too until realised it was a dead platform (although Liberation kicked arse).
I know that feeling lol, I had 'friends' who were only friends because they got games from Singapore and the UK and I'd just want to pirate them but we weren't actually friends.
I remember that too. So many memories...
Curious as to whether you were an Amiga person too? I've found Commodore wasn't very well known at all in the US but the UK, Australia and most of Europe it was super popular.
For quite literally years I couldn't remember the name of that game so thank you! I use VICE these days as an emulator and one of my friends had that game but literally couldn't remember the name.
My kitty still isn't terribly well. Her temp is down though which is positive but seems she has possibly a skin and ear infection. Skin I can deal with... Ear infection she is going to claw the shit out of me.
My other cat doesn't recognise her (since she's been bathed, showered and has topical cream on her) so she's kinda being shitty but there's no fighting, just hissing.
Otherwise I'm doing OK? Work has been a stressor lately since I can't seem to make progress on a few things, but realising I need a mentor (relatively new workplace) to help me progress. My boss is honestly a bit meh and a terrible mentor so seeing if I can get one somewhere else in the org.
Quiet weekend planned, and looks like the weather will be kinda meh. Also trying to figure out Christmas. My family wants me to visit them in hell Warrnambool but I'm not inclined to go... Although it's the only time I can really see my brothers but the rest of the family I clash with super quickly and I have shitty memories of growing up there so it brings a lot of anxiety,, My new partner is supportive and will go with me but I don't think I want to inflict that on her... So we'll see.
I used to work in restorative justice and you'd be surprised at the benefits for the offenders AND the victims/families of victims when I worked in criminology so I've had this conversation with the victims.
Does it always work? No. But when it does does it improve things? Generally yes. It's not black and white.
In Australia I know a lot of people who vote purely based on how their parents voted. That includes people voting against their own interests and refuse to do any research that might change their minds...
Do you believe in rehabilitation? Would you say your values are exactly the same now as they were when you were a child? Do you think that people who grew up in unhealthy environments come out of it with a well-formed sense of psychonormativity?
Oh shit, I remember LiteStep and spending hours and hours to just fiddle with how my desktop looked. I personally felt Windows 2000 was the pinnacle of MS OSs (except so many games etc. wouldn't run because rightly the OS reported it was Windows NT and a lot of games shat themselves at that)
Haha, I remember buying Mandrake Linux CDs...
I'm a FreeBSD user these days (for the past 20-odd years) but still run KDE. Plus they're still trying to remain fairly *nix agnostic which is nice.
Yeah I remember IE5 and NS4, as well as the Firebird/Phoenix/Firefox naming joys back in the day.
If you want to blow your brains out, try getting XHTML 1.1 working in IE6. It is indeed possible if you modify the XHTML DTD. Interestingly it'd render shit so much better since it'd use MSXML instead of Trident as the rendering engine. Sadly it would add about 400k to the page since it needed to load a custom DTD...
Haven't been awesome. One of my kitties has had some health issues (they suspected skin infection but after shaving and testing they're not sure...) so she's home and pissed off, and my other cat doesn't recognize her because she was bathed and shampooed so she's being hissy....
But in general a bit off. I'm kinda burnt out with work, and a little burnt out relationship-wise*. It's been a long week.
Yeah it's a pain in the arse. I 100% recommend Broadcom or Intel NICs for a router. I have a fileserver which has several Intel NICs and a single Realtek one and the latter is a PITA.
If you're using any FreeBSD-based OS you should manually compile the realtek-re-kmod port. Make sure your kernel source is in sync with what you're running.
Been both fighting and supporting my partner. She is stubbornly independent but also somewhat insecure so I'm trying to figure it all out. Reached out to a counsellor today so fingers crossed
Upside is I've started DJing again. It's been... about 15 years since I did it (at bars etc) and it's vert cathartic. I'm enjoying it although now being in apartment my timing is limited. My brother sent me some mixes I did in early-/mid -2000s which has been inspiring
78% yes so far (City of Melbourne is my area). But it's not enough.
I have a partner who looks indigenous and is scared of how this will all play out. We worried this will normalise racism even more than it has already become.
Misrepresentation membership to a professional organisation that's regulated (in this case, Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency regulates it) is illegal.
In one case I found out they lied to me about why we broke up and the second she became a horrible, vindictive person after we broke up and started spreading lies and rumours about 6 month after we split. Originally both breakups were quite amicable and soured and they didn't understand that that had quite a lot to do with my decision to 100% no contact.
I don't think I'm 100% against it now that I think about it further. I just seem to have a history of dating people with an underlying hurtful streak and/or poor empathy...
Yep I second this. I have gone NC with all my exes. Two wanted continued contact but that's just not me and sometimes people ask me what they're up to and I can happily respond I have NFI.
