  • searching for things in the internet.

i think LLM/PISS now has a bigger place because people dunno what to look for / what they want specifically.

there's some legit use for LLMs, but to help you 'search' feels like you're giving away some freedom for an unknown set of weighted biases.

  • from what i read so far, i think you really believe that people can "like" someone with varying degrees. and i think it makes sense, for you to follow through with this belief.

maybe you can convince her with this mental framing so she doesn't feel "disliked" and wouldn't be too dejected at the thought.

i am no expert at your idea of liking and relationships, but i think it is a possible approach.

    cheers!

  • puff

i remember listening to it as a kid. makes for a really good lullaby/ relaxing song.

when you're not a kid anymore, you see the lyrics are somewhat a downer. that, or you got more real stuff to think and worry about.

maybe there's more covers of this now, i dunno. lp version sounds real great though.

  • the practicality part reminded me of the ring of gyges.

the thought experiment kinda goes like "if a rational, intelligent being (you) own a ring that lets you do whatever you want without anybody noticing and you will not suffer any negative consequences for it, would you use it strictly for the sake of good?". this is somewhat famous/popular as it was supposedly taken as inspiration to the lord of the rings book.

  • pretty spot on with the 'competent hardware' part. i've read some people automate those on their sleep just to offset the build times.

there's single letter argument versions on emerge, i think. the long ones are for the learning experience.

  • i appreciate the BuyEU and BuyCanada movements.

also uniting both canada and eu in terms of defense is a good move, imo.

the amount of incompetency people didn't think would exist, we now have a good example of! maybe it is not incompetency, but *retrograde thinking*.
