  • Unless you are literally running around with an epi pen because miniscule amounts of allergens could kill you you really don’t need to worry about those.

Only someone who has never had a serious allergic reaction to anything would be so dismissive. Why do you think that is required to be on the label? Exactly because they can't rule out cross contamination.

  • Would you even fall "down" at all, if it's at the edge of space? Wouldn't gravity cause you to just continue walking down the edge like it's another surface--how "thick" do they say the flat earth is? Have they ever described what the edge is supposed to be like and why no one has found it yet? Or do they maybe say there isn't an edge, but then what do they claim the earth's shape is supposed to be beyond the 2-D term "flat"?

I've seen a few "debunking" videos refuting some claim or another but I've never seen either the flat earthers or the debunkers address some of the most obvious questions about it. Usually they just demonstrate the curvature of the earth or something.

  • My car armrest has physical buttons (edit: I guess you'd call them "rocker switches") that I can push forward or backward to raise/lower the windows. It would be absolutely ridiculous to make me navigate a menu on a touchscreen to do that--please tell me newer cars aren't doing that?

  • The clowns are scary and the tent is on fire

    You misspelled Tesla.

  • reclaim and sell

I doubt the same people who are capable of setting one on fire and running away have the criminal contacts to be capable of getting into the car fencing business.

  • It's been a long time since I looked but I hope most cars still have physical buttons/controls for all important functions! Besides being easier and faster to use, without them if a touchscreen malfunctions (hardware or software) everything is gone and you wouldn't be able to drive the car. Then there's the tracking and spying, and sometimes bugs and UI changes after updates--and now ads!?# Cars are becoming as enshittified like everything else now.

  • However feasible or not any of this is, at this point we have to acknowledge that trump is dead serious about it. It seems unfathomable to a normal person, but he's not normal and there can be no doubt he wants to do it. He's a megalomaniac who wants absolute power, wants to be like Putin and invade other countries. And he has many eager enablers to come up with plans.

  • They like the stock market going down, since it'll eventually go back up and meanwhile they still have billions available to buy up a lot more stock on the cheap while it's down.

  • Offered to? Shouldn't he just go ahead and do it?

  • Tim Walz should theoretically be good at that. While most politicians are well to do, he's never made much money and has a reputation of being a regular person, for the regular people. But since he was running for VP he had to parrot Harris' stance on everything.

If he could go out and speak plainly with a clear message like Bernie does, be himself and tell us what he really thinks, at least we'd be able to make a judgement call on whether to support him. I don't know if he has that in him though. Unless he really did learn that "playing it safe" (i.e. acting like a Dem) does not work any more.

  • Not to mention that the this "English is now the official language" decree is, I think, a way to set the foundation for a way to exclude even more people from voting. I predict they'll come out with some kind of English proficiency test to be allowed to vote.

  • Ban it. It's too late for us, save yourselves!

  • The two men with him were taken into custody. Machado said he does not know why.

Hey, reporter. Hey journalist. You just gonna leave it at that? Not an ounce of curiosity about the the two taken into custody? Did you follow up with ICE on their status? What did Machado know about them? Are they citizens? Here legally? Illegally? If so, why was Machado (who voted for trump because he's against illegal immigration) driving them to work? Is he picking up day workers, is he a hypocrite? Did you think that might be an interesting angle for the story? You're a reporter, or... maybe not. I guess you got your feel-good FAFO story about Machado, so you're done, that's all you cared about doing.

  • trump also railed about millions of dollars of research money being spent on making mice transgender, because he (and his minions) don't understand what "transgenic mice" are.

  • Maybe it's time to start using rhyming slang?

You make a short phrase where the last word rhymes with the word you want. So for "rich", the phrase could be "bait and switch". Then you drop the end and just use the first part, in this case "rich" becomes "bait". Eat the bait. You could also make one for "eat", say "sugar beet", then eat-->sugar.

    Sugar the Bait.

But plenty of other possibilities. For Luigi, it might be a little harder, all I can think of is squeegee and Fiji.

  • But the powerful people behind the scenes who are using him as a figurehead learned a lot from his first term and have been developing their plans for years since then. Biden winning a term just gave them more time to work on it. Though there's still chaos like last time (so we don't pay attention to the Project 2025 actions ), we see the lightning-fast implementation of their agenda from Day One: Schedule F (getting rid of civil service workers to be replaced with loyalists), firing the inspectors general to remove a major obstacle to implementing, the rash of executive orders for everything from the shibboleth "Gulf of America" to declaring a national state of emergency to clear the way for everything else. Trump's impulsivity can sometimes get in the way, but he's otherwise the perfect figurehead because he also agrees with the agenda.

omg, maybe this timeline is a butterfly effect!

  • Not so sure how many republicans in office aren't Russian assets at this point. There's a bunch of them though, have been for a while.

  • Believe it. Sure, that may not be the only purpose of sowing this chaos, but it's a nice side gig for the billionaires who scooped up stocks on Monday and Tuesday while they were "on sale".
