  • It depends. Campaign 1 is REALLY rough, I think I only got up to episode 11. But C1 is rough because 1) they had a player in the game who isn't there now because of a lot of reasons (health and the way he was interacting with other players in the game and outside the game), and 2) visual and audio quality is bad because it was filmed like almost ten years ago. If you want to know the story of C1 but don't want to watch like 100+ episodes, there is The Legend of Vox Machina, there's currently 2 seasons but it's on Amazon Prime. But it's a pretty honest retelling of the campaign bar that one player and here and there, but the general gist and story beats are largely the same. A lot of people recommend starting C1 at about episode 24 iirc.

Campaign 2 and 3 are great to start from the start. They're currently on C3. Though towards the end of C2 they were affected by Covid, so usually they're rather close together, whereas for the Covid episodes where they could come back and film, they couldn't sit next to each other and most likely had their own little tables so on the screen it looks disjointed imho. But anyways, while C1, 2 and 3 are all set in the same world and some characters from previous campaigns do show up, you can jump in anywhere. Like if you want to watch C3, go for it.

If you want to get into the feel of Critical Role but want something a bit shorter, there's Exandria Unlimited, some of the characters from this goes over into C3. It isn't DM'd by Matthew Mercer, however, Aabria Iyengar is still a FANTASTIC DM. She was great. But yeah. I love Critical Role. Love these nerdy arse voice actors.

  • I'm curious as to why the other city instances or whatever you want to call them, aren't as big as Melbourne is. Like I often see the other cities daily threads having like maybe 5 comments, whereas like yesterday Melbourne got 300+.

Edit: Though to quickly add, outside the DT, there isn't a lot of comments are post compared to places like Reddit. For obvious reasons.

  • Hangovers have always made me feel really like... sluggish and slow. Not so much sleepy, it just feels like being off my ADHD meds.

  • God, I'm watching Critical Role, been trying to catch up in c3 (like they released episode 70 on Friday and I'm at episode 34 now) and episode 33 and 34 made me cry so much. Oh my God. If y'all like DND, voice actors and have 11 days continous at regular speed to spare, then I recommend Critical Role. But it'll make you cry so much.

  • Exactly! Maybe bring up the map too just in case I've discovered other places.

  • I feel the exact same way. A lot of the questions I do need context. Like, is the party organised by me? Or will it be a family gathering? I like the library, but would it be during school hours and after babies/toddlers have gone or will it be after school or in the morning for story time. Like there are so many different variables.

  • I know that I score in the "might have autism might not have it" area, but that's because ADHD and autism are cousins (which funnily enough I have ADHD and my cousin has autism) so often a lot of the symptoms will overlap, and also trauma can manifest itself in ways that are similar to both ADHD and autism.

  • Had some anxiety around money when I left to get new glasses, but came back and didn't have to pay a cent, and I get all the bells and whistles for free. Ultra SV Hard Coating on both lens, and the ultraclear on my regular glasses, so pretty keen about that. Though I found out that my eyesight is pretty shit, left is +2 and right is +2.25. Not blind as a bat, but you know, pretty bad.

  • Family + Dialect = Familect.

Basically yeah your family dialect and words or phrases your family might use.

  • There's a podcast I listen to called "Grammar Girl" and she talks about Familects, which is dialogue your family speaks to one another. That's what I thought of when I read this story.

My family is very much Anglo-Australian, but my paternal side is from country Victoria so they have a lot of sayings my friends and even my partner have no idea what I'm saying. Like I'll say "time to hit the frog and toad", I know that it's a phrase that is used wildly, but it's one of those sort of things that you probably don't hear from someone in the city.

  • Yeah no that's exactly how I feel. The person I'm looking after is very nice and cool, and like is willing to learn and accept the mistakes she makes (like she'll write in Gold Coast instead of on the Gold Coast, nothing major but you know). Like, yeah I'm doing what I can with only a little over 2 months of knowledge, like in the end it'll be good because then I won't need to do as much as I am now, but I do like the monotony of things.

Blind leading the blind and all.

  • I mean the original (didn't want to make it seem like Kate's is also a cover lmfao) still slaps, like it's great. But Placebo just hits differently.

  • I was confused about what you were talking about earlier.

But now I can tell, yes.

  • I just want to preface that I am giving them time to learn and going over things again and again. Like I'm not just being like "okay here's the thing now do it!". It's just super stressful because I only started in June and imposter syndrome and like having to teach someone while I'm also trying to work and I'm only part time.

    It's just, a lot.

  • God today was stressful. Trying to train someone what you know while also doing the same work, like I don't know if it's the people pleaser or ADHD but I pick up things super quickly, so why can't others????

So glad it's Friday tbh. Physio right now and then paying for new glasses tomorrow

Edit: physio is done cost me $55, but the physio i had was cool, very chatty. My usual physio is on maternity leave, so it was weird trying to describe what I needed

  • I like Placebo. Honestly I prefer their version of Running Up That Hill than Kate Bush's version. But could help that I listened to that one first.

  • Not excited for my physio appointment today but hopefully I can get some better workouts for my back and leg.

I have to uber to the physio from work because there's no like public transport nearby, and it's a minute trip but I can't walk because of my back and leg. It's frustrating.

  • Yeah, I heard (heh) that the author does the audibook version because he's done audiobooks before and he's very good at it apparently.

  • I haven't used zlibrary at all, but I hear it's not too bad. There is a "download limit" though, apparently...
