  • I thought Memmy was fine, don't like Badger at all

of the suggestions already posted I think these are my favorite: Mercury, Orbit, Helios

  • wefwef (another lemmy app) just rebranded themselves as Voyager about a week ago

  • I've tried getting into Formula E a few times but the tracks are so boring and ugly, and the sound is borderline painful

the racing is pretty good though so I'll try and catch the race this weekend

is Dario still commentating? I love that guy

  • It's pretty easy assuming both of your devices are on the same network:

    • install a game on your desktop PC via steam
    • from your steam deck browse to the game in your library
    • instead of Play/Install you click a little arrow next to the button and then select the name of your desktop PC
    • the Play/Install button changes to say Stream, click that and it launches the game on your desktop and streams the video to your steam deck

if you have a good home network it is pretty much indistinguishable from playing it directly on the deck
I can play Elden Ring with no video artifacts or noticeable input lag

here is a guide which has some screenshots

  • love me some pineapple juice

I tend to avoid sugar but I figure sugar directly from a fruit is acceptable (within moderation of course)

  • I gave up at the 'find a youtube video of an exact length' step

my laziness limit had been reached

  • and my comment from Lemmy has not showed up on the kbin side yet after 5 minutes

I think I may also ask on the kbin side for some insight

  • welp, now I'm hit with the dreaded 'subscribe pending' issue

definitely some gremlins in the machine somewhere

  • ok that is interesting, you actually do get all 5 comments from the Jamahal Hill post though...
so kbin federated all of the comments to your server, but hasn't federated those comments to lemmy.sdf.org

perhaps I will try to unsubscribe from lemmy, re-subscribe, then make a comment
    hopefully that will re-engage federation??

  • I've not tried that, I am only a moderator of 1 community here on lemmy.sdf.org

honestly the only reason I have a kbin account is for the mma magazine, it is the only community I wish would federate correctly but is still wonky for some reason

  • interesting, there is something odd going on with mma@kbin.social at least

here is what both platforms look like when sorting by 'new'
notice how Lemmy is missing most recent posts, and Lemmy is missing 4/5 comments from the Jamahal Hill post (Lemmy is also missing 5/7 comments from the Francis Ngannou post)

  • nice tool

I ran through it a few times and ended up selecting Source Code Pro

  • theoretically they could exclude costs related to direct contact in a sprint race from the budget

but that would mean someone has to audit costs and determine if the damage was actually related to contact on a sprint race, which seems like a headache

  • interacting with chatgpt is a learned skill

iโ€™ve used it several times and while the initial code may have some issues you can get them cleared up with a few direct follow ups

  • remember dogetipbot?

well it's back, in shittier reddit form!

  • yes the game does run on the remote desktop pc and essentially streams the video to the steam deck

I'll admit the use cases can be limited, but if you want the ability to offload processing for graphically intense games it works well

my desktop is hard-wired into my network so I don't have any lag when using remote play on my steam deck

I'm not sure if both machines were wireless how the performance might be impacted

  • wow I have a white cat with a similar pattern, is this a common breed or are they kitty cousins ;)
