For devices like laptops and PCs. I use Urbackup to make backups.

For all the apps I host on Kubernetes I setup S3 backups to self hosted Minio.

Happy i migrated off of lemmy.world some months ago with the piracy mess.

If i remember correctly after the downfall of reddit and the mass migration to Lemmy happened, A big issue was CSAM spreading across the Lemmy servers. Wouldn't surprise me that that is the cause that images are no longer stored across servers.

In such a way that it checks the integrity of the files. Which a normal copy paste does not do. Rsync does this as well bdw.

Yeah which frankly gets annoying fast when dealing with multiple users. As you need to remember the UIDs of all the users and match them potentially on all systems.

A solution to this problem is using active directory or if it is only for Linux devices FreeIPA. Which isn't as bad as it sounds. It even simplifies it if you ask me. More centralized management. It is a onetime effort to setup correctly then just keeping it in check.

Your data is safe. Worst case is that you need to do some reconfiguration of the system after you reinstalled it. You can import your existing data drives.

wait so i can use a single HBA and use some of the ports to connect to the oculink ports of the backplane and some for the miniSAS ports of the backplane?

Hey, So I have been looking for a motherboard that has multiple PCIE gen3 x16 slots. i wanted to use a amd ryzen 9000 CPU but at least for asrock server boards they only have a single PCIE gen5 x16 slot. do you know if their is a single HBA that i can use to connect everything to instead of using multiple?

Idk what Vaseline Hamilton usage. But if you compare the 5 sec penalty for a false start with the last few races that's kinda ridiculous how low that is.

I use it as a better spell check then word.

Awesome thanks for the great help! I find it slightly confusing with all the connector types and backplane stuff. This helps out a load. I think I will go for the layout you laidout their.

Thank you! This helps a load. If i understand correctly when you use the oculink it becomes nvme only. and when using the other connector like miniSAS it will work with SATA/SAS instead?

Also I am not entirely sure how the 2 drives in the back are connected I think straight to one of the HBAs?
