  • As a counterpoint, I like it in video games for the same irl reason: it saves time.

I do love games where it feels alive when traveling on foot/horse/etc. but I would rather fast travel if I've already explored it, generally speaking.

  • It might depend on the school district, but my family has worked for 3 different ones across a couple states, and they would not get paid monthly or anything over the summer. First check for them would come in September even, and we start school in mid to late August around here.

IIRC they would get a larger sum at the end of the school year to hold them over til the fall. I vaguely recall my step mom talking about how every year there would be a teacher who budgets poorly and forgets the first paycheck isn't until September.

  • 2 days off during the school year is insane, but teachers don't really work during summer vacation. If the school picks a new book for their class then there's work. They're really just required to show up a couple weeks before school starts, at least in my state.

My step mom and her whole family were teachers (5 total). Ranging from kindergarten to high school. I don't think any of them had as little as 2 days off allowed per school year, but I imagine some districts could be that shitty.

  • I mean yeah, it's a closed source app. The most that could possibly be collected is your IP alongside browsing habits. Your ISP already does that and definitely doesn't care who gets it, so anyone who is concerned already uses a VPN.

  • Generally I tell players they need to pick a specific point for the cube so that it exactly fits the grid. It just keeps things more objective, speeds up combat.

I also generally prefer more structure and strict rules for things though.

  • A friend of mine tied a feather to a long stretchy string and it's the cat's new favorite toy. He'll pounce on it, etc. as cats do, but his favorite thing is to grab it and bring it to his bed. He just kinda walks it over there, lays on it for a second, then wants you to toss it away so he can catch it again lol.

  • Something meaningful to your partner, not just a fancy place (those are nice too).

Close by our house is a little pho place that my wife loves. She hates the cold weather, and if it's an especially chilly day she's usually feeling "meh" but if I say "let's go get warm soup belly" her mood instantly changes and I think that's romantic :)

  • My cousin actually died from fentanyl OD, my aunt is currently pursuing charges against his dealer. I know the police seized his vehicles and found fentanyl at his house, but the charge for homicide is still ongoing.
