  • Google's maps are decent and can also be downloaded to be offline...? But yeah, it seems like it's a nice alternative, especially if you want to be free from Google's grips.

  • Nah, but they're both forms of intellectual property.

In this case, it seems like they decided Zynga was infringing on patent US7072849B1. They managed to convince the court that Zynga's advertising methods were too similar to what was described in that patent. Which is bullshit, as software patents shouldn't exist, but oh well.

  • Well, yeah, because they initiated the code to verify it was you who called them. Better than them asking your "security questions" or such. It's a completely different situation if you got an incoming call who asks for that.

  • Back in my day, we walked for miles uphill in the snow to school, we rode the unprotected meatspin, broke all of our bones, and then we walked for miles uphill back home. Kids these days are so spoiled and pampered!!!

  • What has that to do with anything?

Absolutely nothing. Just like how political affiliation has nothing to do with their crime. Simply that the first comment was a bit much "give me upvotes please"-kind of comment for my taste.

  • but totally fine when so many other media companies do it?

Do other media companies create fake streams?

Fraud is the crime of obtaining money or property by deceiving people. He deceived streaming platforms, as he botted his songs in order to earn royalties.

The whole "AI" thing is irrelevant; it'd be the same situation if he manually produced all his music.

  • I'm not a rail expert, but I thought for some reason that rails without electricity would be too old/unmaintained to be allowed to serve passenger traffic, lol.

40 minutes? I would have imagined that everyone would hop off at the station, they'd then drive out to a parking junction, and then drive back the electric train to the station for people to load in again. Isn't it also very expensive to take the train (you're from the US I assume)? Not weird that no one wants to take it when it's in such bad situations :/
