  • I'm sorry. I know your heart is broken and nothing but time can ease it. I lost my cat in January at 15 years old from hyperthyroid related kidney failure. We met when she was a feral kitten and ran out from under a food truck and tried to take me down by the ankle. We bonded instantly. It has me at a heightened state of awareness of the mortality of my two dogs and remaining cat. It hurts like hell and I'm so sorry you lost your friend.

  • It's funny you mention that. I barely make it 30 minutes at my art receptions of I manage to submit work in a slow. I've been thinking about it and remembering how much of a fight I put up before getting a cane and how much I wished I hadn't waited so long. Probably time to talk to my doc. Thank you friend and I hope you get that chair hacked and at your command.

  • I understand. I use a cane due to severe inflammatory arthritis and a long list of other crap including a deteriorating spine that's likely to land me in a chair myself in a few years. Trying to build my own ramp into my house a little at a time on good days because it's several thousand dollars to have one built and eventually I won't be able to do it at all. Solidarity in hating it here. I'm in Texas in the US which, well it's run by regressive masochistic asshats.

  • Even with the best care I wouldn't expect it to last 20 years. The switch is nowhere near a well built machine as the DS was. The controllers will be lucky to last a year. They used arbitration to avoid a lawsuit over how crappy the switch is knowingly built. We've been through three since their inception. That being said they're still a lot of fun. They are trying to integrate the sub more, but it's still avoidable on some games. If you buy one get a hard case or at least a somewhat solid case to help support the console with the controllers connected if you decide to play it that way. The way that they're connected with what destroyed them faster for us because you put too much pressure on the controllers and their connection when holding it. Using a case like this for reinforce the controllers and make them last much longer in my experience.

  • I'm not sure if it's close to the same thing, but I use Max Richter's Sleep album. I did take out a couple of songs for my playlist I thought were too perky, but he worked with sleep scientist or what have you to make an album that induced and maintained sleep. His concert for it was literally a bunch of people sleeping. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0VMUYmhGI3Oqfb0V7X5R2EXoFkrJXOIj

  • They also had keyboards that worked well and there was even real competition for on-screen keyboards until Google bought out and dissolved the best keyboard because they really want your ducking typing data.

  • Not me. I set up my server last November and tried Plex. It reminded me too much of too many services starting to lose their way. Given recent events it looks like I was right. We use Kodi because my partner prefers it, but I really like Jellyfin myself. It was a learning process but really only took two or three hours with research time to set up. Costs me nothing and I don't have any ads, upselling, or any other BS that will eventually turn into more extreme attrition.

  • They've gotten great at this war of attrition. They know if they make changes incrementally people wouldn't accept all at once then most people won't notice or care. That's why I through that trash and two firesshits out in the garbage where they belonged when they started with "related" ads and app store ads.

  • There's a lot of good suggestions here, but I just wanted to add that I absolutely wouldn't rely on a random eBay seller's warranty in any way. I made that mistake early on in my journey. I came back to find my seller had deleted their account (probably to start another and skip out on warranties).
