If you look at the state as a unit of coercion that uses violent and nonviolent means to enforce and perpetuate class disparities, you can concieve of the state as something that can be separated from governance. It is possible that the state withering away means the withering away of brutal police forces and military, intelligence agencies, war industry and so on while governance still continues to exist in a more democratic fashion.
It's hard to say what things will look like that far into the future but I think structures like national central governments will continue to exist. They could cede significantly authority to provincial governments.
Jesus Christ. Just when I thought my opinion of Israel could not get any lower. This country is straight up a goddamned abomination.
One thing I am having a hard time conceptualising because of my lack of knowledge is how to think of Israel's autonomy in these atrocities. Like, is Israel in these cases sort of a proxy so that imperial powers like the US and the UK can rob the global south of their sovereignty while maintaining plausible deniability? Or are these things that Israel just does on its own because it seems like 120% of their GDP comes from selling weapons and spyware.

It's not foolproof of course but it's a huge improvement.
Neither Bernie nor AOC is socialist in a meaningful sense. Bernie campained on taxing the rich and single payer healthcare which is radical in the American contest but it is not enough to make him a socialist. After he got ratfucked by DNC he has started toeing their line uncritically.
If you want a prominent western anglosphere politician who is socialist, look at Jeremy Corbyn. Compare Labour's manifesto during his election to Bernie's programme. Bernie's looks extremely lukewarm in comparison.
