Exactly, so it seems that F1 saving a few sets of tires per weekend is really just paying lip service to sustainability.

They should just be honest and say that they are making this change because they just want something different.

If they cared about the impact of their tires on sustainability, then why require Pirelli to make tires that degrade so quickly? Just require tires that last a whole race/qualifying distance?

I think this is great. The current hybrid powertrains are so complicated and expensive. Just move to zero carbon e-fuels like Porsche is experimenting with and simpler engines.

Yeah the e-fuels are crazy expensive; but the small volume that F1 would require would still probably be cheaper than the current total costs of all the hybrid stuff.

Never thought about the North Star, but I suppose that makes sense for northern hemisphere seafarers. But then combine that with the compass and European colonialism and it all makes sense.

When your negligence/incompetence causes an opponent to retire, a 5 serving penalty doesn't seem fair.

Such a slap in the face too when it forces a DNF as well. Like "hey we know that guy forced you to retire, but don't worry we gave him a 5 second penalty!".

I still maintain it was the wrong call. It only worked because Lando drove perfectly. If Lando made even the slightest mistake, he would have lost that position.

Expecting your driver to be prefect is not the right call.

I'm guessing the lower track temps are really helping. Also why LeClerc is struggling on the hards.

Probably just overall management. They know they're not going to beat Max. But if they can maintain a 2-3 finish, that would be phenomenal for the team.
