  • then figure out what it actually needs.

    It needs tracking to work.

Also, I hardly see my non tech relatives following your advice 🤣

  • Who cares about the GOTY?

    I'd say Chinese people don't.

  • Except that such an extra step is way better in quality and streaming speeds, compared to streaming sites, if you care about this or 1080p/4K high bitrate media.

As a matter of fact, since you can stream and also download torrents with a debrid service, I'd say paying a cheap seedbox (debrid services are cheap as well) is torrenting with extra steps... Without the ability to stream.

  • I miss the convenience.

I busted off my convenience for a little bit when setting up Plex + Riven + Zurg (the same could be said about my Arr stack) after that huge learning curve it is all about convenience baby, I get all my stuff in all my devices with one single account, keep the progress of the full library even pair it up with services such as Trakt, and I can even share the love.

  • I am gonna give you a couple answers for that based on what I have read in other places such as Reddit, perhaps OP does not agree with them.

    1. RD or debrid services in general are paid services and it goes against their piracy beliefs (This is the silliest thing I could ever read... It only makes sense if you don't care for quality and/or you haven't tried a debrid service in your life).
    2. Streaming torrents even paired with debrid services or VPNs (not needed when using a debrid service, or in some countries for bare torrenting) is more cumbersome than just using a website (even in this day and age when Stremio exists), which I kinda agree with them... But you get what you pay for... Am I right?
    3. They just don't have a clue of what a debrid service is.

  • Although, I'd rather live quietly in one of the side villages.

Yeah, who wouldn't be able to do their chores with magic, or having unlimited housing capabilities with it!

  • Does Kanto count?

If not... Howarts from the Harry Potter PS1 game...

If not... The locations of Toy Story PS1 game...

(As you can see I am rummaging through my childhood memories).

  • I use Torrent daily, I basically never stop seeding what I download to my Plex Server and I also use a Real Debrid account, which essentially caches the torrents to their servers for us to stream through different methods (like Kodi, Stremio, or more recently for me Plex thanks to Riven/Zurg).

  • Yeah exactly, I have no language issues while using Lemmy clients.

  • What really kills my engagement with Mastodon (aside for never being a regular Twitter user) is that posts in undesired languages still filter in my feed (I follow hashtags) even when I set up only two languages... Not everyone is filtering theirs I guess...

  • What the hell, I had no idea such a tool existed... I do not intend to use it... But it is so cool regardless.

  • This is a totally reasonable request yup.

  • What games accomplish that?

Aside from indies or 2D games I guess.

  • Yeah stopped bothering with setting up the hour manually for these things... Every rainy or windy season my electricity is quite erratic.

  • Ah, what would we do without the EU.

  • Nah homie, I am from LATAM, no good reason, no eyes care for what I do online here.

The only reason (and the most popular among the people I know) is to get better content (AKA USA) on streaming sites such as Netflix lol... And I have been using ProtonVPN free as of recently because it is an easy way to get rid of my IPv6 connection in my Android phone (why is this so unnecessarily hard to achieve BTW!?) because I think my ISP is shit and can't handle IPv6+IPv4 sites properly or IDK... I get huge delays browsing sites like Trakt and Plex from my Android phone.... And I am afraid I use both servcies daily... YouTube and Spotify also take its time loading, all these issues go away once I switch to an IPv4 network only.

Oh, and some Lemmy images take longer to load here too!

  • Wait for some lemming hopping here telling you "for now" even when they probably can't understand 3rd world countries 🤣

  • I hope I don't get crucified for saying this, but I am not fond of old reddit... Maybe because I didn't "grow" with it (my 1st Reddit experience should have been the Alien Blue app for iOS).

I don't enjoy clicking each image to get it to a comfortable view size and I miss a lot mark as read on scroll (to be honest this isn't present in any of those redesigns AFAIK).

I am aware you can pretty much improve your experience completely using browser add-ons such as RES but at the moment that I used said add-on they dropped support for Safari, so I lost track of it...

Nowadays I got back to the right path (Firefox) so I might check what it has to offer...

Taking advantage of this nonsense... What is your preferred desktop UI for Lemmy?

  • LOL.

So people really pay for this?

I might head to the desktop to see what it is as I have never paid for gold... The only way I got it one day (and I don't even think I "enjoyed it" was because of the Alien Blue iOS client which gave away something like 4 years of Gold if I remember correctly).

  • I appreciate this setting still existing, especially because some custom skins/UI can be too slow, but IMHO I prefer a balanced/stock value as the animations nowadays are so polished and smooth that I'd rather use it that way than butchering them with faster speeds...

I am using MIUI right now and it has its own version of this, so I just use "balanced mode".

When I use AOSP I always use stock because even my SD 865 feels weird when the animation is too fast but the app is still loading, I think it kills the momentum lol.
