  • If they're worried about billionaires having too much power and trying to shut them down then perhaps the NYT should have done more to prevent that situation from being possible. I recall many instances in the past decade where they went out of their way to provide cover for both billionaires and fascists. You reap what you sow.

  • I don't want to hear any of this nonsense until a progressive loses a general election. Until then, all you're doing is repeating the talking points neoliberals need people to believe in order to keep trying the same bullshit over and over.

  • You're not wrong but I don't know why we bother pointing this stuff out anymore. If there's anyone out there still expecting consistency from conservatives they aren't paying attention at all, which means they'll never see any post pointing out the inconsistency.

  • All systems of government are like that. I'm not saying ours is perfect. It is far from it. However, all forms of government rely on specific people following a set of rules that a (usually) different group of people came up with. Once enough people ignore the rules there's no way to fix the problem by attempting to enforce the rules that aren't being followed. That's what we're seeing now.

  • Kids suck a lot of the time. All parents are forbidden to express their frustrations without being judged harshly. Being a parent doesn't make you a perfect person with infinite patience and the expectation that it should needs to die.

  • You're justifying Dems being ineffectual. We don't want to hear it anymore. We're tired of watching Republicans play dirty to get what they want while Democrats sit on their hands and complain that governing is hard. Republicans fight despite the odds and that's why they win more than they should. Democrats could do the same but they choose not to. I don't want their excuses. I want them to fight even if they eventually lose the battle. Giving up before it starts is completely unacceptable.

  • I'm pointing out that delaying bad things is it's own benefit. Your original argument relies on the premise that a delayed outcome is no different than an instantaneous outcome and that is obviously not true. I'm not sure why you need me to connect those dots for you.

  • This is the same excuse I've heard for 15 years, even while they had a majority. Meanwhile, Republicans seem able to get shit done even while in the minority. I'm tired of excuses. Do something useful or get the fuck out of government.
