I don't think 24 episodes will be happening any time soon, but it would be nice to have 12-14. Ten is so few, and with the ongoing strikes, it's going to be a while until another season happens.

And as a public company, Microsoft has a lot more options to leverage their equity than a private company or individual does.

I don't think it had anything to do with the show itself and was a purely financial move.

Companies across many industries are being told by their investors to cut expenses yesterday and they're abruptly shutting things down, laying people off, etc. Even if they're profitable.

Pike is absolutely the kind of foodie who'd keep a supply of real bacon aboard. The good stuff keeps a while and they've probably got stasis fridges. I'm sure he's got a whole network of food purveyors across the quadrant to restock with meat and dairy every starbase visit.

I'd really like to see them bring Bruce Hemmer back as a new character. That's what I hoped for when I first heard we'd see him again in Season 2.

Even better, train an LLM on the output of another LLM. It's LLM's all the way down! Surely this is how we get hyper-intelligent AGIs and will not at all result in a nonsensical gibberish machine.

We are tribal animals and will do this with just about everything. See also: politics, religion, ancestry, food, computer platforms, smartphone platforms, clothing brands, astrological signs, science fiction franchises, choice of pet, which way the toilet paper goes, etc.

What makes you think a monarchy would do anything to combat a corpo hellscape? If history's any indication, they'd probably make all the CEOs lords and turn everybody else into an indentured peasantry.

I tried, but it didn't take. The comment deletions were all restored the next day. I haven't asked for the account to be deleted, but I think that still leaves behind all the comment history.

Nah. If Lemmy/Fediverse doesn't work out, there will be others. This has all happened before..

It seems to be working well enough. There will be growing pains, but I'm more than willing to live with some bugs & limitations while this all matures and grows. There's a risk of losing all comment history & whole communities if an instance decided to shut down, but that's true of centralized sites today. I'll take the chance on something less centralized that one single asshole corporation can't screw up.
