  • A promiscuous bluetooth connector is not a user problem other than their response to it. Why is it happening in the first place?

  • Well, that's an example of something that actually takes some knowledge to run. Sonarr is not a native linux app, and is really meant to be run on a server by somebody who already knows what they are doing with it. Then there's the issues with snap itself. On my plex server I manually installed sonarr and its dependencies and made my own systemd init file. Once running, updating through the webui seems to work ok, but I tend to use ansible to maintain everything.

  • How are you trying to install things? Use the graphical package manager or apt. Don't just try to download things from wherever.

Also, maybe try Linux Mint (Cinnamon Edition) instead of Ubuntu. Things there "just work", and the UI is more similar to what you are used to with windows.

  • TBH, the likes of oracle are probably what led to this. Rocky/Alma weren't seeking profit, and neither did CentOS before it was turned into kinda stable Fedora.

  • Took the time to migrate to crdroid. Works well. The only things I'm really missing are:

    • ability to change appearance of quick settings
    • ability to swipe up from the pill for either split screen or notifications

Quick settings background images are nice, but back when I ran DU, you could have those images change based on time of day. Not a huge thing, but a main reason I would want custom QS backgrounds in the first place.

  • without -l, default behavior is integer results. Probably not what you want in most calculations.

  • That depends on if a human is reading/writing it, or a program.

  • A 1:1 NAT to the other network usually solves it for me.

  • routing. On wireless, however, some devices are really stupid and can only talk to things on their own subnet. To address that, I use NAT on the IoT vlan to the real device on the private side.

  • One may just be a symlink to the other depending on your distro. For shebang lines, I'd probably go with /bin/zsh

  • There is something fundamentally wrong with a service that shows more ads than content.

  • I've never met a lnp I would trust

  • Actually reverse donation. If I want to get rid of anything that isn't worth the effort to sell, I put it on the curb and it's gone in a few hours. This works with scrap metal too.

I've also had trees and stumps removed for a case of beer.

  • People are judged more on their behavior than their gender identity or race.

  • Make a kid safe tld that requires whatever government certification. Done. Now parents, if they choose, can filter all but the kidsafe tld. Trying to instead blacklist is never going to work.

Whether companies choose to certify and publish there is something those who want this type of thing should provide incentives for.
