hoping to learn how and start hosting my own matrix server over summer. depending on how things work I'd like to migrate my family chat there, possibly even host space for my kid's friends if that's a thing they have interest in using

yeah, might seem good to have yet another choice, but it's an illusion

eventually we'll all be able to have an open source AI that runs fine on a phone or any average device and we'll have our privacy, and the big corps will lose their grip and hopefully collapse

maybe not, but it's a blueprint for whoever wants to try in another state

it could run it! that's roughly the same cpu speed as this

hmm, this might actually be good

they can send anything, but if they run their own matrix on their own servers then the data stays in house.... important for govt or military things

why aren't they using the matrix?
