Samsung has this feature build in and its called 'Extra dim' or similar. Its a quick setting one can get when customizing the tiles.
I used to use third party apps too, but it was annoying that you couldnt grant permissions or install new apps without deactivating the dimming app since it was a security risk to have an app which draws over other apps.
One idea for the language problem. It needs a little bit of tinkering. Grab the apk and alter the package name. Than you can install multiple instances side by side. You could install one instance for each language. Probably necessary to alter the app name as well so you can distinguish between the different versions.
So you can convert your files with qgis (free) on a computer and than have a broader selection of apps like locusgis. You could also try locus (non gis) or osmand which is foss.
Well to be honest, even if each and every website wouldnt use dar patterns and there is a clear choice to refuse with one click, it would still be obnoxious to decline everytime you visit a site.
I like what other people describe as 'bloat' on a Samsung. But I am a powetuser who actually uses a lof these functions. Sure i dont need two calenders. But i can just not activate the samsung one and hide it in the launcher. Also i would say that samsung has a better ecosystem. I am also using a samsung tablet which is superb and some samsung smart tags. If you get a pixel you dont really have an option to use any working smart tag.
Oh and definitive Letterboxd! Its a must for every film fan.
You have a watchlist, can mark movies as watched, rate movies, can write reviews, discover reviews follow people, see what those people have watched recently and discover super intersting lists.
Definetly the best website/app for every film fan.
Digital or physical copies? For digital ones I would recommend something like trakt where you can mark movies as 'collected'.
For physical media I would recommend a database which distinguishes between the multilple releases of the same movie. Often there are big differences from one release to another, like lord of the rings colorgrading or star wars special effects retouching etc.
I know only one website which does this well and its in German, see the heading 'Fassungen':
Yeah that was my first too. I remember that I found the S2 ridiculously large when it came out. Also I was super jelous for the build quality of the iPhone 4 which was released at the same time. Glad that these times are over.
When the phone (or whatever) is still usable I always prefer to sell it. You usually get more money and the usable product gets used some more instead of getting destroyed.
OCHs were way more common in Germany than in other countries. Biggest boards like boerse and gulli used only OCHs. My guess is its because of those laws that torrenting was risky. But the truth is that for one pirate who used vpns, torrents and OCHs, there probably are a hundred people using streaming sites.
If you are interested in the German piracy history, there is a book anout the gulli board: http://gulliwars.com/
I would look into the zima board or zima blade, cheap but should be powerful enough. Otherwise there are really great server builds possible with low powered mini PCs possible. See Wolfgangs channel on youtube for inspiration.
You could use a raspi but there are more powerful options for a similar price.
Good to know. Never noticed it with my last phone (one plus). Its often not that clear which option is a Samsung addon and which is not.
