  • You know how 0.9999999999999999999999999~ = 1?

It's like that. A rounding error at best. So yes, in reality, nothing.

If all you're doing is bitching about it on the internet, then you are doing nothing and then acting virtuous about doing nothing.

YAY you have warm fuzzy thoughts and feelings! Congratulations you're a "good person"!

  • Are you attempting anything? Because bitching about it on the internet isn't far from doing nothing. What have you done in your life to change the US prison system? I'd love to hear it.

  • That actually happens btw. There are homeless that will commit crimes, so they get arrested, so that they have a couple of free nights of not freezing to death in the cold.

I haven't incentivized crime, but yes our current institutions do so.

  • This clearly says US Institutions.

I'm on a path to homelessness and a premature death due to institutionalized neglect and abuse from US institutions.

This person wouldn't be posting here if they were from Norway.

  • We've decided morally, that killing is wrong. So if killing is wrong, but we have to keep killers out of society, then we've got to put them in a place away from society. Somewhere along the way, we decided that killing isn't the only thing that requires you be separated from society.

You haven't committed a crime, therefore are free to succeed or fail at life all on your own. Society hasn't judged you, therefore society hasn't seen the need to take care of you either.

  • Too long to find an actual reasonable reply in this thread.

Likely cracked in collision, they probably didn't see the damage to it, likely didn't replace it. Buy the piece and replace it if it's that big of a deal. These pieces are all bolted on from the inside, after taking a few bolts out. This piece can be had as an "Inner Tail Light", for $70, and replaced in 10 minutes with a small set of hand tools.

It's already easily accessible in this car because you've gotta be able to replace the bulb, so it's likely as simple as opening a hatch or door panel type thing behind it.

  • Just offering the solution. If you don't like it, you can KEEP not getting housing. I moved out into the woods to be able to afford the house that I have. The fact that you won't even posit that as an OPTION is telling. You want it your way, or no way. Well guess what...you're not getting it your way, so you're gonna have nothing.

Car-dependent sprawl only happens when the ONLY thing you're building is housing. If you use zoning laws to ensure that you get enough businesses in the area, then it's not car dependent any more and you're just beginning your own little city in a place where there isn't one already.

You don't have to start in an ALREADY established city.

  • Here's a simple suggestion -- Stop cramming more houses into places where there are already tons of people.

Can't be a problem with NIMBY-ism, if you're in nobodies back yard at all!

The whole point of cars and personal transportation is that you can fill all of these empty places with your housing, and these people can drive to where they want to go on their own schedules. It's not that hard.

We don't need to cram another 10k houses onto the golf-course where people like the fact that they can't spit out of their back window and hit their neighbors house.

Better yet - Mandate city-centers for every [X] population so that the people don't have to drive half way across the state for their job too.

  • Last game I preordered was World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade and I stood in line for 12 hours to make sure I was the very first to have it. Haven't preordered any game since then. They weren't distributed digitally back then, so running out of 'copies' was a real thing.

Now, I perpetually buy games that are 1-2 years old. They've been patched, they've been balanced, they're stable, and I can watch someone on Twitch beforehand to decide if it's worth purchasing.

  • Lots of Lemmy is reactionary. I mean, they're on lemmy, so they're generally going to be the quickest to jump ship on anything. I don't think his takes are bad either tbh - They've still proven themselves to be quite reliable.
