He is complaining that the crowd booed his partner. The partner he chose to play with. But he won't recognize that the reason the pair is being booed is that one of the partners is a child rapist. I think it's fair to think that that is bad.
The problem is that yes, historically humanity has learned (at least temporarily) when it induced a crisis.
The big difference between climate change and other catastrophies like the world wars is that it's irreversible. We can rebuild cities, countries even within few generations. We absolutely cannot rebuild earth after we fucked up the climate.
Even if we learn from this it will be too late to apply the learnings. This one isn't a case of "fucking around and finding out".
If that's supposed to be tankie bait it's way too obvious my friend.
Of course there are many companies that are actually run as collectives, everyone owning their share, everyone contributing what they can, only taking what they need. No they are not in the Fortune 500. No that doesn't mean they aren't successful.
Socialism assume that companies could work with no centralized ownership which is impossible in real life, it's like the believers of this theory ignore all the human psychology and assume the perfection in the world.
That's like saying democracy can't work because without central ownership the state would fall apart. Socialism isn't one clear cut thing, it's about distributing economic power (more) equally. Strengthening the power of the workers by making company decisions more democratic, involving the workers employed by the company, doesn't seem infeasible.
Well I guess it's time to go Fairphone then. It's way more expensive than I'd like but honestly I'm so done replacing my phone because of software issues and not because the hardware wasn't serviceable anymore
I believe it shipped with 10 and I'm currently sitting on 12. Last security updates are from December 2023 so I'll probably have to switch sooner than later...
It's a Nokia 5.4
Edit: to be fair that's not too bad compared to other android vendors. It's actually pretty good. But being the cleanest pig in the mudpit isn't really the goal I want to achieve. I'd rather be actually clean.
I'm also unclear on the exact technical details but there's probably a reason that lineageos and the other free androids out there are not easily installable but have to be customised to each device.
I'm pretty sure that reason is mostly manufacturers being dicks about this. So it could probably be fixed by mandating some kind of interoperability. OTOH the governments are probably happy that not more people are using degoogled devices
Conflating everything from anarchism (endlessly critiquing power) with the authoritarian left (fascist dystopia) under leftism and then picking and choosing the negatives ends in comments like these.
Hey sometimes McKinsey also helps people. Like when they explained to new York that maybe, just maybe, throwing garbage in bags on the streets instead of trash containers makes your city stinky. Still cost them a fortune that advice right there but...
then we'll be able to get a lot more computing power.
I think that's not quite true it depends on what you want to calculate. Some problems have more efficient algorithms for quantum computing (famously breaking RSA and other crypto algorithms). But something like a matrix multiplication probably won't benefit.
I mean they do. By not giving me the food I just paid for
