  • Yeah, agreed. I came here because like you said, whether it’s doom bait, rage bait, trolls, or dumb memes, every post on Reddit made me feel some sort of negative emotion. This place was better for a bit, but is definitely trending in the same direction, and I’m thinking I’m gonna just delete my account and try to spend less time browsing in general

  • I don’t love the idea of people advertising their apps here (except maybe on like a “self promotion Saturday” sort of thing), but I do like the idea of the app. I was developing a very similar idea as a nextjs PWA, but ended up abandoning it and just using HTLB as my game tracker instead. That said, I’ll check this one out! $8 feels a little steep for the IAP though

  • Gotta feel bad for Nyck, especially considering Christian said “If we've got to do something, we might as well get on with it and give Daniel 12 races to see what he's capable of.”

Bummer for him that Daniel gets 12 races to see what he's capable of but Nyck only got 10

  • It's also worth mentioning that on launch day, people in Europe were able to access it via VPN (not sure how big of a number of users that was), but they've since blocked those users. I'm sure that's not a massive chunk, but it's a chunk nonetheless

  • Sorry, I was agreeing with you, just poorly haha.

Really what I meant is like “if you want to use superchargers, regardless of connector, Tesla has to let you. But cars/chargers switching to NACS doesn’t mean that if Tesla changes their connector your car stops working”

I’m totally in favor of the change (and I love that SAE is getting involved, since that makes it feel a bit more real)

  • Yeah, they’ll be beholden to Tesla in order to use Superchargers, just like they’re beholden to Electrify America to use their chargers, but the connector and its underlying technology are open. If Tesla decides to switch all their superchargers to some new future non-NACS connector, that would be stupid, but the other companies still wouldn’t be beholden to them, they just wouldn’t be able to use those chargers

  • I’ve already seen number 1 happen. I’ve had a completely unacceptable amount of non-nsfw tagged porn hit my front page being posted to various Lemmy.world communities, all by shitjustworks users. I’m getting pretty close to abandoning the platform myself because I don’t need that shit coming up on my phone when I’m just trying to browse

Edit: that said, I’m not going back to Reddit. I’ll just abandon this type of site altogether and spend more meaningful time with my family and read more books

  • Oh yeah that’s been over for over a year at this point. We’re on month 7 of 12 fulfillment. Bummer you missed it! It was expensive ($600 for all four books and all eight loot boxes plus audiobooks) but it has felt super worth it for me so far (I’m a mega fan though to be fair)

  • Yeah I have no problems with big companies making kickstarters. When Brandon Sanderson launched his last year, I loved it, because he obviously would’ve had no issue getting those four books published, but it was a way to gauge interest in special editions and swag boxes.

Likewise, lots of board game companies have the games totally finished but basically use Kickstarter as a fancy preorder system

  • It's a real struggle. I'm a sedan boy through and through, and it's getting harder and harder. Especially since where I live is pretty much all new construction (including my house TBF) and nothing is designed with small car sight-lines in mind anymore. Parking lots are treacherous because I'm always sandwiched between two monstrosities and can't see anything trying to get out of a parking spot, and for some insane reason my car doesn't have any cross-traffic monitoring/alerts.

  • Made it so that L/R button operation on the class selection screen and course selection screen in the Grand Prix can be conducted on touchscreen as well.

I had no idea this game had any touch screen support

  • Yeah, I was opposed to buying a Mac for ages because I could never justify $1000 on a Laptop, so I bought $600-800 laptops ever 3-4 years. But I’m at 3 years with my m1 MacBook Air and it works as well as the day I bought it, and still has 98% battery health. I don’t see myself buying another laptop for a looooooong time

  • Super mixed opinions about this one. On the one hand, I hate the consolidation, ever approaching monopolies. But on the other hand, Actiblizz management has been so bad for so long, I'm looking forward to them getting out of the way and seeing what can come when people who want to make games get to use their IPs. But also, is there anyone left in blizzard leadership who even cares anymore?
