  • Maybe they could white label a password manager (Bitwarden?)

not sure starting at which version, but in android you can set bitwarden as a default password manager system wide which integrates pretty seamlessly with firefox and other apps. only place i know bitwarden doesn't really integrate well with firefox is on Linux but that seems more due to bitwardens lack of interest to implement freedesktop apis.

i agree though with additional revenue streams, they need to break dependence on Google search engine revenue. maybe spend research on alternative monitization to ads and sponsored content that could be implemented at a browser level and split revenue between browser and websites.

  • Microsoft lawyer Rakesh Kilaru wrote that Microsoft was already considering layoffs before the merger.

Corporate gaslighting at it's finest. we planned to layoff ~1000 employees from the company we were acquiring before we agreed not to do that!

  • 18 U.S. Code § 2381 - Treason

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

treason is more about declarations of war, a foreign party may be involved but it's not required.

  • you seem to be blaming the workers for turning out flops but in general it's the managements lack of planning and micromanagement that's the general cause.

no one who's a developer, artist, designer wants to add micro transactions, that comes from top down because it's a revenue generator. they want to polish the games so they can be proud of the work, but are not given time.

executives are not the ones generally being let go and the ones that are will be cashing out from the acquisition. expect those IPs to get worse and have more enshittification because that's what makes money and that's all corpos care about.

you don't get a larian studios from laying off talent, you get it from good management and giving your talent time to deliver.

  • could be skimpflation. company's have been changing ingredients slowly to lower the cost of ingredients to save on cost. doing it very slowly over years they end up saving money and no one really notices the changes.

if you can find an old ingredient/nutritional list from a few years ago you can compare ingredient order to see if it's changed

  • honestly the statement "contains as much caffeine as our dark roast coffee" is misleading since that would be comparing an 8oz coffee to 8oz of lemonade. if you drink the coffee you're most likely getting a cup that is 8-16oz. however the standard soft drink size is 20-30oz which would mean one cup is basically your daily serving of caffeine.

if i saw the sign saying "same strength as our coffee" i would assume it's one cup of coffee is equal to one cup of lemonade. who would only fill their cups half way? it's insane to sell one cup that is almost 100% the daily value while it's known bad side effects can happen after 400mg.

  • Elon and the Twitter company are not anonymous? They're using their position to actively bury opinions they dislike. by removing a blue check it means less people will see union organizing efforts and messaging.

The Nazi started deporting after they came into power and again they came into power and held their power by silencing their opposition. Stop being a Corpo fasist apologist.

  • before the Nazi party came to power, they would show up to rallys, protests and town squares to silence political opponents through intimidation and physical violence.
A lot of people would consider Twitter a modern day digital "Town square". i would say it's eerily similar, the main difference is that there's no physical violence just the silence.

  • One very nice feature is that when you use multiple profiles, you can specify in which of those external links open in.

is this similar to Firefox containers? dunno why mozzila makes it as a plugin and hasn't bundled it in yet as a standard feature, literally can't live without it.

  • javascript but more for philosophical reasons. when projects use typescript they always get focused on writing more scripts rather than optimizing HTML/CSS. Too many times I've seen overly complex scripts trying to solve what a properly arranged div and css tag have already solved.

  • imo its a bit different as they are using physical resources and then artificially limiting access. a better comparison would be getting a motherboard and having to pay extra to use some of the usb ports.

I think eventually there should be laws against wasting physical resources for monetary gain. if they want two models, make it such that they either don't meet manufacturing requirements and are hard disabled (similar to cpu yield) or produce one with and one without.

  • A lot of the investments by big companies were made in 2018-2019 with low near 0% interest. now a lot of those loans are coming due which will impact their total assets. they want workers in the office to keep Corp real estate in demand so their investments don't tank. most likely will result in massive layoffs or bail outs as they will try to protect the shareholders for eternal growth.

  • are there actual datasets to look at and info regarding how data was collected? all the sources on that page are just domain links but don't appear to point to the data making the claims?

4.7 accidents per million miles doesn't mean much if the cars are limited to specific roads or include test tracks that give them an advantage. the degree of variance in different environments would also need to be measured such as weather effects, road conditions and traffic patterns.

I'm all for autonomous driving, but its not like companies don't fudge numbers all the time for their benefit.
