And on top of all that, the article is specifically about Microsoft urging people to get rid of old hardware, which I take to mean NOT current-gen, bleeding-edge gaming hardware. So my suggestion was about not being forced to upgrade your hardware to keep having a usable computer.

It hasn't been for a long time. SCOTUS already declared Trump king, and Congress has completely abdicated its constitutional role to remove lawless presidents.
Trump is the most obvious symptom, but the underlying cancer is a deep-seated streak of fascination with authoritarianism in this country.
It's easy to forget this, since the United States ultimately sided against the Axis powers in WWII, but there has always been a sizeable contingent of full-throated fascism supporters in this country.
They've spent decades honing their messaging and figuring out how to break the minds of Americans, and Trump is the culmination of that project.
So, not that it matters anymore, since this is now a dictatorship, but that law is only applicable during a declared war. I wonder who Congress declared war on?

Next year, David Bowie will be diagnosed with liver cancer. A year and a half later, it will kill him. It is absolutely imperative that it be found and treated earlier than that, when it hasn't metastasized yet. Get him diagnosed and treated now. The future of the planet depends on it.
