It's some kind of locked-down version of GlobalProtect that's integrated with a TPM module to prevent machines that aren't running our corporate image on corporate-approved laptops from being able to connect.

There's probably some kind of workaround, but I'm lazy and it's easier just to power up the Windows machine now and then.

I only ever use Windows on my work computer, and only when I need access to a resource that requires our Windows-only VPN.

But seriously, "just use linux" is worthless advice. Lots of people use Windows for specific applications that don't exist in the Linux ecosystem. For example, there are no Linux applications that come close to AutoCAD, and it simply doesn't work on Linux.

Better advice would be to get new (or newer used) hardware if possible, if you absolutely need to use Windows, since this workaround will inevitably be "corrected" by Microsoft. Then you can do whatever you like with the old hardware, such as install and learn Linux at your own pace.

Predictions:

• The perpetrator is a Republican.
• His excuse will be, "Everyone does it and no one gets caught," despite getting caught.
• Other Republicans will continue to believe in imaginary Democratic voter fraud, while ignoring instances of actual fraud like this one from their own party members.

I don't understand these guys. They know what they're doing, and they know it's to help a sick and despotic country wreck the United States. If that effort is successful... what do they think their dollars will be worth when the "full faith and credit of the United States of America" no longer means anything?

Yep, they're trying it again. Flood the zone with shitty polls from fly-by-night pollsters, make it look like a "red wave," and try to turn it into a self-fulfilling prophecy. If it works, they look like geniuses. If it fails, they claim rigging.

But I genuinely believe we've got this. Trump will never be in the White House again.

And early voting data actually looks terrific for Harris. Early turnout in Democratic-leaning areas all over the country is unprecedented.

Thank you. I'm getting very tired of the sudden influx of doom and gloom when the actual data points to a likely Harris win and bullshit from Republican pollsters.

Guys, chill. Breathe. Calm the fuck down.

First off, Harris hasn't been "losing ground" for a month. This change reflects a few tight polls in some swing states, while she's still ahead of Trump in most of them.

Second, early voting shows ludicrously massive turnout for Harris, something that didn't happen with Clinton. Harris is not Clinton 2.0, stop pretending she is.

Third - and I can't believe I keep having to say this - polling is fuuuuuucked right now. None of the pollsters, large or small, know what to do with a young electorate that votes but doesn't answer unsolicited phone calls or texts. They're heavily relying on all sorts of assumptions to weight what little data they have, and using lots of focus groups.

Fourth, there is a huge enthusiasm gap, and it's obvious. Trump isn't filling tiny venues anymore, while Harris is filling stadiums.

Now is not the time to just give up, all right?

But that doesn't mean we can rest on our laurels, of course.

If you can, volunteer or donate for the Harris campaign, and definitely vote!

It was no mistake, Bret, you obsequious hack. You were hoping to just pull one over on Harris, a seasoned and talented prosecutor, and she took you to the cleaners for it.

I mean, I'm pretty sure most of it (not all) is known from the dribs and drabs that have already come out, but it's a coherent document that ties it all together.
