  • You'd think that insurance companies would be on the forefront of pushing climate change mitigation and prevention specifically because the impacts of worsening climate change will have a massive impact on their bottom line.

    Maybe they can counter some of the petro company propaganda with their own marketing.

    That's the real problem.

    No employee should rely on the arbitrary generosity of their customers.

    Employers need to pay their staff properly for the job they're doing.

    And if some staff member happens to go above and beyond, a customer can optionally choose to reward them for that extra level of service with no societal pressure or guilt..

  • As a landlord (with only one house) I do not understand why a landlord would raise the rent unless they need to.

  • One way it could happen is the CPC limits CBC resources every year, forcing it to gradually degrade, & increasingly rely on advertisers. Then when the plug is finally pulled, it won't seem so bad, because it's so degraded anyway.

    There was no clear path to a consensus, even among experts, on which other system to adopt.

    Couple that with the reality that the majority of Canadians don't really care about the minutae of the voting system.

    Sure highly politically engaged people in discussion forums might care deeply, but the average person really doesn't.
