I don't see a lot of evidence to suggest that'll happen.

My interpretation is they're referring to the majority of Americans who aren't out protesting.

That was part of what went into how Canada chose the targets of our first rounds of counter-tariffs.

Product categories that we also make here, or can easily get elsewhere or can comfortably do without for an extended period of time.

That combined with a consumer led boycott of anything "made in the USA " and even staunch Republicans like Mitch McConnell are starting to push back against Trump.

As long as he also says why we're pissed off and reminds them that we didn't start this fight.

Which he has been doing so far in the interviews I have seen.

we don't hate americans, we hate the asshole and his goons.

Though we are increasingly frustrated by those Americans who are sitting on their hands, and not actively trying to save their country from the self-harm it is currently experiencing.

Every time I read news about Trump I always wonder what his end goal is.

I interpret it as some combination of staying out of prison, getting richer, serving the demands of those who have blackmail on him and self aggrandization.

Maybe not, but it is a default app, and the vast majority of people can't be bothered to install something better.

Welcome to American exceptionalism.

The "free speech absolutists" just wanted to call black people the N-word,

They are able to say it already (and they still do amongst themselves).

What they wanted is to be able to say it in public without consequences.

It's also going to end up spilling over into the cemeteries.

And into other countries.

It can, but that would require a huge number if Americans putting in a lot more effort than they seem to care to do.

The reason why there has not been more resistance or assassination attempts is that everone expects Trump to die from uninflicted causes soon enough

There's still a pretty good chance that eventually someone who Trump/DOGE causes to lose their job will have a "going postal" response.

Especially if that person has other stressors in their life that have already put them on "I have nothing to live for anymore" edge. (Remember the guy in the movie "Falling Down"?)

Trump may be temporary , but his puppetmasters aren't.
