It's diluting something over and over again until there's nothing left of the original substance, and then selling it to gullible and/or desperate people like it's going to work.
It's crazy, like, a child can see right through that, yet you have millions of desperate adults falling for and hawking that obvious bullshit everywhere. It's really sad.
That is a great movie, one of my favorite horror films from the last decade. IDK if you knew, but a sequel is in the works. They start filming next year!
Hahah, it's fun trying to guess who said this. Rutherford? I have no idea. Yeah this show keeps getting better and better! Wife and I will probably start watching season 03 this week, can't wait!
I rolled my eyes when I saw one of the first promo posters. I thought it was gonna be super snarky and unfunny, but am glad I was wrong! I shouldn't have judged. It's also pretty dramatic and sad at times, which really threw me off at first because it's just so well done, you know? The writing is top notch.
Oh that crossover one on SNW was great, they somehow made it work! Loved that remark Mariner and Boimler made about how every talks so quietly and slowly.
Same here, tbh I haven't thought about jquery in a while and kinda came in here to see if it's dead or not. Yeah frameworks have largely eliminated the "need" for jquery libraries for most projects. It's weird to think about, didn't take too long to happen.
I have to admit, I also had issues with Disco; the Klingons' prosthetics made it hard to understand them, like they had a collective speech impediment or something. Some other minor nitpicky things too, but I largely got over it all. I'm digging what the show is doing now and am sad to see it ending so soon.
Honestly I’m surprised they actually did manage to pull off a Star Trek comedy without appearing to make fun of Star Trek and its fans. But they did. (At least in my view they did.)
I know, right? Serious props to the writing team. Sometimes I feel like I'm watching a really smart meta satire/parody and I have to remind myself, like, "wait, this shit is canon!"
I do think Boimler is supposed to represent the ultimate TNG fanboy, though it's done tastefully and lovingly. The way he marks out over meeting Tom Paris or the plot of random TNG episodes is hilarious and is a lot like how we all talk sometimes.
It does, it truly does feel like the best fandom place right now. And of course, thx to you and @ummthatguy. I keep seeing posts from you guys pop up in other communities and I always gotta check where I am. Hah everywhere feels like Risa
Also, I'm mostly a lurker, but I've been here since a bunch of us left the Bad Place and I want to reintroduce myself. I used to go by - - - (will edit this out later) and I really appreciate the steady stream of memes and hilarious conversation. You guys are awesome. @Stamets, I am a big fan
ie they may be willing but after a long time ones idea of self will play a role in what one sees as “complete” and what gets regenerated
That is fascinating, do you mind elaborating? I'm reminded a little of the "ship of Theseus" concept. Like, would the initial regeneration of a limb affect the quality of future healing and/or regeneration, or is it more of a long-term psychological effect like "my arm is back, but I don't 'feel' like this is my real arm"?
It's hard to believe how well it's preserved. They're never this complete! It sounds like they might look for the rest of the skeleton, which will be exposed and lost to erosion anyway if it is there. If we're lucky, we'll also find clues about its eating habits, which isn't out of the realm of probability considering how intact they found the skull. Truly remarkable, I really want to see that upcoming Attenborough documentary.
