  • I would argue it’s the opposite of being good with beginners. Having used many distros for years, with most of my time spent in Arch and NixOS, nix basically follows zero Linux conventions and requires you to learn a new language, learn the conventions of the nix community and ecosystem (channels vs flakes, home manager, etc)

I primarily use nix but it’s specifically because I can write nix files and use them anywhere, so I’m a hobbyist, not a beginner

Mint is good for total beginners. Arch is good for those that really want to learn how Linux works. Nix is for those that want a reproducible system, not beginners

  • While that’s true, as far as I know at the moment, for the majority of people, the only way to “flee” the US is to seek asylum elsewhere, which is difficult, or to pursue immigration to another nation, which also requires basically getting a job there in advance. Otherwise you will still just be deported back to the US if you haven’t left through one of these means.

  • This is all part of the planned destabilization and wealth capture unfortunately. All the heritage foundation / project 2025 people want this to happen

Edit: I don’t meant Gavin is in on it. I mean that the right wants this to happen

  • Sure but how is it any different than hiding gold in Switzerland or art in a vault somewhere? Until it no longer has potential wealth in the hyper capitalist market it’s still valuable. Wealthy people at that level are already so rich they don’t spend money, they borrow against their assets, which in this case could be real estate, gold, stocks, bonds, or because of all the amazing new crypto (not fiat btw) technology built around making crypto currency have all the same financial systems as fiat currencies and other investments, crypto. They only need to hoard the wealth. They don’t need to spend it

  • Well yeah the billionaires already profited on the dip that was the point. He’s been in power for 4 months or so. Let’s see how many times he tanks the economy or guts federal programs into various coffers so the rich can profit over the next 44 months (assuming that’s the end). There’s still so much untapped wealth disparity to increase

It’s so weird to fight for digital ownership of one thing and then put all the organizing work and discussion into another closed corporate ecosystem that could shut down or charge per head at any time
