Marketers be marketeering.

I'm in tech and have been lucky enough to work in a few departments with some laid back, chill people who don't have egos and just want to do their work and go home.

A lunch a little while back featured 8 of us sitting around the table, and I realized that among us were two Muslims, a Hindu, two Protestants, a Catholic, and two Atheists; and we all got along famously, bonding over our mutual hatred and distrust of upper management.

I know that this isn't a universal experience, but it's nice to know that it's possible. :)

Just finished book 1 of "Malazan: Book of the Fallen" by Steven Erikson, "Gardens of the Moon".

Immediately started book 2, "Deadhouse Gates". It's a Malazan summer, all 10 books in a row! :D

You have contributed nothing of value to this community, and need to rethink your entire approach.

First thing, try and breathe to see if the unknown new world has an atmosphere compatible with the one I'm accustomed to. If not, I guess I'm dead.

Second thing, determine if I'm in a wasteland / nature setting, or a civilized one.

Third, regardless of the answer to the second, take stock of my current resources and seek new ones. Water is highest priority, food second, shelter third.

My mother in law's stories. She keeps repeating these stories over and over but we've all heard them a dozen times before and then when we say, "oh, we've heard this one" she takes it as encouragement to keep going

It's okay, we're just a little more anti-corporate on average than most. Various events that led many of us here have contributed to that. :)
