I think I can honestly say that Mass Effect changed my life.
Before Mass Effect, I used to be more of a casual gamer; The Sims games and some old school platformers, but nothing really significant.
Mass Effect was the first time I became wholly immersed in a game’s story and characters that I learned everything there was to actually playing the game well. Post-Mass Effect, I feel like an actual gamer. Through it, I started to appreciate shooters and full RPGs, and I really dove into the gaming industry as a whole.
If I had to pinpoint some specific moments, I think those would have been the ability to move from friends to lovers for my Shepard and Garrus in ME2 and my Shepard standing tall and fighting hard in her last moments with the Destroy ending in ME3. I literally cry multiple times throughout ME3 even though I’ve played it a million times, and I enjoy the whole story so much that I’m recording my gameplay and editing into a sort of Mass Effect “show” so I can enjoy the story while I’m just lounging or hop in quickly even if I’m in the midst of playing something else.
Before ME, I would never have considered myself a gaming fan at all, and now there’s ME gear, fanart, cosplay items, and such every few feet in my house. 😅
I’ll add that the “big reveal” in KotOR made me put down the controller and stand outside on the patio for a moment because I was so shocked, but Mass Effect is like amped up KotOR, so I’ll lump them all together.
The kaitco of today is definitely a different person than the kaitco who hadn’t played Mass Effect, and I love the series for that.

Hm…I mean, I’m not sure I’d call it a “new look”, but I suppose there are some changes.
There have been articles for years about some of the people building this getting their passports snatched and being forced to work practically to death. But yes…the commitment of those “volunteers”.
Oh they absolutely will both experience extreme suffering as this drags on and on.
I think the likely conclusion is that the US will unfortunately put troops on the ground and settle it; maybe just temporarily.
But you’re very right that they all need to be sick of war, and I don’t think that either “side” is there yet because it hasn’t really been a full-scale war since the 1940s.
I think they grossly underestimate how much I don’t want to engage in small talk and how little patience I have when it comes to having my crap scanned and bagged.
I like paper bags because I use them for my recyclables, and whenever I ask for a paper bag at Kroger, the 14-year-old at the end’s eyes cross and they stare at me dumbfounded until I go down there and help them bag. Then, I get to bring out my inner Karen when I ask them to stop putting just 3 things in a paper bag.
I go to self-checkout, so that I can avoid the “how are you?” chatter, but mostly so that I don’t have to act like a total heifer just to get my crap bagged quickly and efficiently.
There is no surrendering here. You’re talking about a region where these “two” peoples have been fighting for three thousand years. If they were capable of sharing or conceding, they might have found a way to manage in the last couple millennia.
Israel feel like it’s their rightful land, which can be up for debate depending on who you are, but Muslims in the area also feel that it is their rightful land. Israel refuses to share the land, but then can you blame them when the Muslims (particularly Hamas) have a goal of eradicating them. I’m black and that’s much like asking me to “just get along” with the Nazis next door who constantly advocate for the US to be a white ethnostate. On the flip side of that, is it fair for me to completely segregate anyone who doesn’t look like me or worship like me just because there’s an amount of “them” who might be Nazis?
There’s a way that they could both live in the land, but it’s going to take a major change in leadership (seriously, why is Netanyahu still there?) and a change in the minds for “both” sides that accepts that either they share or they’ll both be destroyed in the end.
In the 1800s, you could rent a space on a rope overnight so that you could drape yourself over it and have a place to sleep that night that wasn’t on the freezing, urine-soaked ground.

I’m not sure I understand why the Tories insist on taking leaves straight out of the US ultra hard right Maga playbook on these things. This is one of those areas where the UK should be separating themselves away from what we’re dealing with in the US. Instead, it seems as if y’all Brits are really digging your heels in on trans issues when there are so many other issues on the agenda (this is the case in the US as well, so trust, I can fully appreciate the frustration).
From my best understanding, this is Sunak’s appeal towards hoping that he and all the Tories are run out of office during your next general election, but dang! This has got to be the most asinine take I’ve seen…since yesterday (things are perfectly inane in the US government at the moment).
But Rock Band 4 still lets you buy and play songs from the first three Rock Band games and those were from the X360 era.
Interestingly enough, Harmonix still releases new music for the game that was released the sams year as the first Xbox One.
