  • Of all the current things to worry about the last thing anybody should really be putting any effort into is a deceased person's missing internal organ that was removed after death.

It's horrible, yes, but so many horrible things play out every single day. This has no impact beyond psychological to the family involved. The guy is already dead. The heart won't bring him back. The heart won't stop them from suffering his loss.

I'm sure there are far more pressing things to investigate that impact the living and the masses. I know this is cruel and ignores emotion but if there was ever a reason to put the majority before the minority, this is one of those.

  • Let's go dictator! all hail dictator whoever the fuck!

Can't wait for tropico to play out in USA in my lifetime. We can finally bring more equality to the world by bringing down the last real bastion of democracy. I wonder what world power will step in to take over for us?

  • If democrats were split 4-3 on the ruling in Colorado, what outcome are people realistically expecting getting this from a group of mostly conservative judges?

If they don't let him through then democrats will stay in power and the threat to their billionaire bribes "donations" will be at risk. They might get some serious changes to how the judicial arm works that dilutes their nearly absolute power.

If they DO let him through then republicans will continue to rally for pro conservative policies that dismantle democracy in place of a single party system where the judges are still on top and get to do effectively whatever they want, so long as they keep letting their side win.

  • I understand what you're saying but I think you can't get elected to a national house or senate seat without being wealthy or very connected to wealth.

The income is mostly just a joke. There should be an equitable way for people without an income or wealthy connections to be elected on merit and opinions rather than by virtue of giant funding.

Personally I vote for election advertising bans by 3rd parties and to make all election advertising done through a collective pool of funds shared by all candidates. These fucking PACs are a big problem today and they are everywhere

  • Ubereats lets you set the tip after the delivery. afaik the others don't.

Should be illegal to prompt a tip before services are rendered, including at those POS machines that ask you up front to tip even a small amount.

  • Already cancelled my prime account when this was announced months and months and months ago.

You're already getting recurring subscription fees from me, so you're getting paid even if I don't use your services for any period of time. Stop fucking around and playing games, adding ads is double dipping. I'll just stop the recurring transactions and find services elsewhere.

  • Be productive or die. That's the message they're sending.

That's what antivax is. That's what being against masks was. That's what crushing obamacare was. That's what deregulation is all about. And that's what the republican platform is built on. Be useful or die. Can't make healthy babies? Just die. Can't afford healthcare? Just die. Survival of the fittest (e.g. wealthiest) until the world ends.

  • I pinky promise to watermark my ai works!!!

Come on. If I use an ai tool to generate something and incorporate it to a released product... how is that any different than googling for an idea and incorporating it into my released product? Why is a search aggregator: a thing that takes all the information you allow it to off of a site and presents it to the public ANY different? You're using an algorithm to get an output that you desire based on an input.

  • Coming to a city near you: $50 minimum wages, in line with middle aged white collar workers. Can't wait to get paid as much as a fresh grad and get my job outsourced to another continent at 20% of the rate.

The only people able to buy houses now where I am are making >200k, and we're talking budget 2br homes, not some megamansion and not even anywhere near a desirable part of a major city. I'm in IT... wages have not increased, instead they have decreased over the past 10 years except at the lowest income segment.

Meanwhile the wealthy elite are so obsessed over their commercial properties going up in value year over year at an unsustainable rate that they mandate us to show up right in the heart of the city making the housing crisis even worse. They win though because they already own nearly all the land. Paying landlords from birth till death is the future. Can't for when we pay 90% of our take home pay to our owners.

  • It's about tradition!

Traditionally many, many children died at childbirth or soon after due to the lack of medical care and vaccines.

Traditionally the rich, wealthy and powerful have held almost all the cards of power, keeping most to themselves while denying the elevation of new generations - "new money" vs "old money" is a great example of how they try to minimize meritocracy.

Traditionally snake oil salesmen were everywhere and misleading claims were status quo. This is where we are today with politics, maybe it's always been this way too. Gotta love those weasel words!

Traditionally though... women couldn't run for office, vote, or have any real kind of say. Not really sure how you can run on a tradition platform and just gloss over that.

Oh, and traditionally in terms of human society the rich and wealthy have always owned slaves, serfs and other humans because their families had amassed wealth and land first. We're returning to this with landlordship in the USA.

Ah well, fighting over scraps until humans go extinct in the next couple of generations. No helping it imo.

  • I would like to propose an alternative solution: Force broadband providers to offer low cost service to families that need it. Don't subsidize it, just force it.

Internet connections cost next to nothing to maintain. The telecoms can afford it.

  • This is one of those things where I don't really agree with the law on.

Shoplifters come back again and again and many try to screw with checkout people with coupon scams or simply know where in the store to go to hide the things they want to steal.

Verkada (a company that supplies cameras and the software to use them) has this kind of functionality built-in. All it does is let you setup alerts for people who are persons of interest. It's not perfect but anyone paying attention can tell that the person on camera being alerted is the same as the POI or not. It doesn't eliminate the human interactions needed to actually prevent shoplifting, but it does let you know who to focus on when they come in.

Normal store employees don't get access to things like camera systems. Security / loss prevention employees are typically the ones with access and who would see a notification and then watch for someone to put things in a purse or pocket and try to walk out of the store.

So all they're saying is "do not scrutinize this known thief unless you yourself remember them" which is pretty absurd. If someone doesn't steal there isn't a problem, and if there is the footage will back up the innocence (or guilt!) I don't even know how this became a case.

  • Nothing is final until the federal supreme court weighs in or the election is final.

At this stage of the game all of the appeals in the world are in play.

    ftfa

The court put its decision on hold until Jan. 4 to allow for further appeals. It also said that if the matter is pursued before the U.S. Supreme Court before that date, the pause will remain in effect during that time and Colorado will be required to include Trump’s name on the primary ballot pending action by the Supreme Court.

Article also mentions the supreme court in CO is appointed by all democrats. A big win would be a red state agreeing with this.
