  • Come on, my posts have zero impact unless they create outrage and someone is compelled to correct someone who is "wrong" on the internet.

Besides, bad press is still press. People aren't going to have their mind changed by any of us blasting on the internet that dumpy is bad or that water is wet if they don't already believe it at this point. Just not how the internet works, only how internet points work.

  • The data presented on this site looks like crap, it's just a brand and a price average change for cars 1-5 years old. They talk about iseecars looking at segments but they aren't comparing segments in the data on this page, just the overall used price by brand.

They also point out in their other article that tesla's MSRP has dropped heavily across the board from oct 2022 -> nov 2023 for the exact same configuration. With a price cut that big (since the used car market has cooled significantly) I can't imagine used prices wouldn't adjust downward to reflect the price difference. Like say say in this article, someone who bought a model x dual motor for 120k in oct 2022 could turn around and sell it for 75k and buy another brand new like model.

  • We'll probably just get Biden again but still have a broken house of representatives with a republican majority on half, so nothing will really happen for another four years. Neither party is going to land a trifecta.

No matter what it's unlikely that Ukraine is going to see significant US aid and regardless of the feelings of the public in the US. Israel will be permitted it's continued war of aggression as well regardless of who wins.

imo the only change to the status quo will be if dumpy wins and they actually go with the 2025 plan to turn the federal government into a republican hellscape.

  • I feel like some people may be mentally damaged or simply lack critical thinking skills. Business is business and this entity obviously already has no qualms doing business with dumpy.

You get a bond like this contingent on other assets existing plus a fee. He owns real estate. This arrangement lets you leverage the equity in that real estate for a fee while someone else's cash on hand is used. Let's be realistic too, there's next to no way he's going to pay the full damages because most sane people wouldn't think any amount of defamation is worth $83m+

Let's pretend worse case scenario happens for dumpy and the 83m judgment is sustained and he exhausts all appeals and has to pay all parties for all damages based on all current lawsuits against him... unless he declares bankruptcy and truly loses it all - a thing that seems to have no hope of ever happening given none of the suits are for more money than he controls in assets... it's all but guaranteed a signed contract will be enforceable should dumpy choose to not pay.

Ultimately it's a secured debt. We'll never know what the terms were from chubb corp.

  • Just insane that a country can kill hundreds of thousands of it's neighbors and take their land while being protected by a country decrying the same action by another country.

This isn't going to solve any problems for the Israelis. They'll just be a bigger target for the middle east. What happens when the Palestinian kids clinging to life grow up in neighboring countries? Do they think they won't find more rockets and conduct more attacks? What will Israel do when the attacks come from Jordan or Egypt? invade those countries too?

  • I wish someone in the audience had the balls to ask, “when you say Republicans, are you talking about liberals or conservatives?”

Even if you got them to ask this, they'd immediately get defensive because liberal is a bad word to them simply because it means having something in common with the opposition party to them. The true meaning is lost once you get into a public political context today. Just more manipulation of language to suit keeping public opinion of their voters being on their side after consultants or analysts figure out what engages people the most.

Also after reading about this guy on wikipedia, he seems like a real piece of work. Not too surprising since you're required to master doublespeak in all political and leadership roles to be successful today.

  • tax on unrealized gains based on the tax year those gains happen, same with losses.

Big win one year? awesome! pay taxes!

big loss next year? bummer! no taxes if you only lost money... but no carrying that shit over.

Imagine all that money which would have FLOODED the economy post-covid while people were poor as shit that would have wiped out the national debt which in no small part was from handouts to the 'welfare kings' with businesses that pocketed tons of free cash from dumpy's bailouts in covid times. Full circle could have been nice.

    Instead we just get f'd.

  • “because in those days we had people who fought for real social change, and they were called Republicans.”

This room full of women was quiet as he spoke, though a faint “That’s right” could be heard when Robinson later said Republicans ended Jim Crow laws.

There's a non-outrage-inducing non-headline grabbing logic here that is him saying he wishes republicans were more liberal

It's very different from saying "I don't think women should be allowed to vote"

If the masses can't distinguish between these two concepts (they certainly cannot) then it is what it is. Pillory the guy, I don't give an F, I wouldn't have voted a republican in to a leadership position anyway due to the party's policies and issues that are systemic.

  • Trump also repeatedly claimed that if he were president, there would be no war between Israel and Gaza. “It would have never happened if I was president,” he said of Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack against Israel, in which more than 1,100 Israeli and foreign nationals were killed. “They wouldn’t have done it to me, I guarantee you that. They did this because they have no respect for Biden and frankly they got soft,” he added.

    uh huh

They would never have done it if he was president. They only attacked because of biden.

  • Don't forget heating and cooling too. There's a ton of things that are necessary to operate while the vehicle is in motion and should never be delegated to a touchscreen.

I'm fine with touchscreens for in car entertainment for the back seats and maybe a passenger one with the appropriate shutter technology to block the driver's view. None of those things are important for vehicle safety... but if there is a speaker that the passengers can control there needs to be a mute button for the driver to turn that shit off too :)

  • how come I don’t see anyone but the nurse for two hours?

    • Because the doctor showed up late.
    • They overbooked / double booked (maybe with a last minute urgent caller or maybe just because they know they will have so many no shows.)
    • Maybe the medical assistants called out and the processing time for people is backed up.
    • Maybe they decided to flirt with a patient or two or took an extra long bathroom break.
    • Maybe they had a family emergency and had to step out or take a call.
    • Maybe a patient called in with a critical need and they had to prioritize that because it's a life and death situation or something.
    • Maybe they farted and it wasn't just a fart.
    • Maybe they don't like you.
    • Maybe their car was towed because their medical bills are piling up with insane interest and they weren't able to work as much as they needed to make the bills the last few months and they needed to take a bicycle
    • Maybe they got an OUI and lost their license
    • Aliens

    Pick one, or many.

  • You think no one will pick up the old code and work on it?

You think the original devs won't consider going back at it through a means that is anonymous and minimizes their risk?

I've never ever seen a platform with an emulator lose the emulator without someone eventually filling the void. The interest is there. More people than ever can code.

  • Christina Elson, the executive director of the Center for the Study of Capitalism at Wake Forest University, told Business Insider that many young people had embraced an idea she calls "safety capitalism."

Ah yes, the executive director for the center for the study of capitalism says young folks want capitalism.

    Come the fuck on.
