basically, its a subculture of people who like anthropomorphic (i.e. humanized) animal characters, like zootopia, for one fairly recent mainstream example. some furries do dress up in costumes, but the leather dog masks are a somewhat unrelated bdsm thing, though there's probably some significant overlap in the groups.
they would not, and the story would get picked up by every overly credulous fox news pundit and be used to further right wing outrage against trans people.
in the us they have all your info, but your employer pays an estimated amount of taxes out of your paycheck all year, and you've still gotta fill out paperwork about it yourself as well.
if it turns out you overpaid, which you only know by doing the paperwork yourself, and you filed taxes, you get money back from the gov. if you overpaid and don't file, the gov just keeps your money. if you underpaid and filed, you'll have to send them more money, and if you underpaid and didn't file, the IRS will be coming for you.
i used to change socks every day, if i wore shoes, but since switching to only wool socks, i basically only change them once a week on laundry day unless they get muddy or something. wool socks can go a lot longer without washing than lesser fibers.
