Just to second the above, I've also found the transition between rif and Connect to be okay. Things like a amoled theme and reverse list display have it feeling very similar to me. There's still plenty of differences of course. One little thing I'm realising I'm missing is not being able to see the domain of a link post before pressing it.
I'm sure we're going to see all sorts of behaviour here soon if we aren't already. The Reddit attitude I hope we avoid as much as possible is that pointlessly aggressive tone though. Not just in arguments but responses to posts from people who seem to have only just learnt the word fuck and use it to add an extra condescending slant to their weirdly celebrated rant about how someone misread a paper or something.

Looking at the jobs page it looks like a great place to work, but it blows my mind that still only offer 2 weeks off.
I think for official communities self-hosted instances feels like a win-win for everyone. Companies get full control of their community but no one has to participate with it in isolation. They can also separate discussions, eg news@pokemon.com or blueprints@factorio.com.
For more abstract themed communities lime technology it's definitely more complex. Reddit's partial solution is multi-subreddits which could apply here but it's far from a complete solution.
It should be unimportant, but some people kick up such a fuss about having to learn new things or changing what they claim is 'natural' that it is important to a lot of people. Gender is both a social construct, and a very real thing that does warrant discussion.
