  • Mind Your Dirigible, the dirigible in this case being your personal data. He's saying you should use a VPN or other precautions when using those apps.

  • I'm a special education teacher and today I was tasked with writing a baseline assessment for the use of an iPad. Was expecting it to take all day. I tried starting with ChatGPT and it spat out a pretty good one. I added to it and edited it to make it more appropriate for our students, and put it in our standard format, and now I'm done, about an hour after I started.

I did lose 10 minutes to walking round the deserted college (most teachers are gone for the holidays) trying to find someone to share my joy with.

  • The Nature Centre - art-pop from Birmingham, UK. They're great!

  • I like that your comment is the tl;dr for the above comment

  • I've made a few text/discussion based posts on a dnd community and got good engagement. People are wrong if you give them a chance.

Be the change you want to see. It's never more true than at the beginning of something like we are now. I've only been here a month or two and I ashtray feel like I've seen Lemmy evolve over that time. It's cool!

  • Weird that he died from fentanyl at the exact same time was he was being choked to death

  • Space Engine. It's not quite a game, but rather an accurate simulation of the known universe. Anything beyond what we know is procedurally generated. The first time I played it it made me feel so small.

I started at Earth and flew around the solar system, then picked a star and flew towards it. You have to increase your speed by multiples of the speed if light to get them to move. The stars started moving and then moving past, me, but the star I chose wasn't moving. I realised it was actually different galaxy, so increased my speed by many many multiples of the speed of light until eventually it dwarves to move. I flee over to it, and then slowed and explored a few star systems there, I found a binary star system, that was really cool.

Then I had a realisation. If I didn't use the search function, and I just flew around trying to find my way back to Earth, I just never would. I could play it for the rest of my life and be certain that I wouldn't find it. The odds are that small. That thought scared the shit our of me and I closed the game and couldn't okay it again for a few days.

Don't know if that's what you're looking for but I do recommend the experience!

  • Yep I take milk, no sugar, thanks. If you're pitting the kettle on, like.

Thanks, didn't know most of this! Sad about spinach, and i guess i will have to limit the amount of my mum's homemade rhubarb ice cream that I eat, although I guess the cream would help?

  • Oh man, that's a dilemma. I've had a kidney stone, so I know that they are agony. But I'm English! I can't just not drink tea!

  • I don't think it's lack of tech savvyness that lead to this. The UK government are trying to set up a fascist state. Increased surveillance, outlawing protest, scapegoating immigrants... we're even setting up concentration camps in Rwanda to send asylum seekers and migrants to.

    It's really getting bad here.

  • Wait what why would unsweetened black iced tea be bad for kidney stones??

  • Obviously you can't prove it one way or another. That's the whole point. Are you new?

  • Yeah, I read about them using the girls as bait

  • I never thought a legal letter would be entertaining to read, but that was.

  • Hey the thread isn't for really dumb stuff, just pretty dumb stuff.
