  • If you think we aren't seeing it, report it. The report queue is the first thing we look at and the Admins have a bot to inform mods if there are too many unresolved reports.

  • We acknowledge all calls to violence that get reported to us. Nobody gets left out.

Here's the problem from a lemmy user perspective:

Most of the calls for violence come from the anti-fascists. Whether it's anti-cop, anti-corpo, anti-billionaire, anti-Trump, anti-Israel, etc. That shit gets reported and shut down and it's probably 98% of what gets removed. 95% of it is a single user who gets banned over, and over, and over.

The other probably 2% is pro-Russia, pro-China, Ukrainian/Uighur genocide denial, but most users never see that angle on it.

Very little of it is pro-Israel, rah, rah kill all the Palestinians. I think they know better than to come here and start that shit. I have removed and banned some of it, but it's a tiny, tiny minority of what gets reported.

So if you look at the modlog, you're going to see a lot of removals and bans on the anti-fascist front, because they're the ones coming here starting shit against the rules and refuse to be told "No."

  • Oh, we can acknowledge and remove any calls to violence.

  • Video gaming or tabletop gaming?

For tabletop, I recently discovered "The Land of Eem" and it looks like the definition of "Cosy".

YouTube, Discord, it's all over the place. Described as "Lord of the Rings With Muppets".

  • Issac Asimov used to tell the story that when he came here as a child from Russia, one of the first things he saw was a billboard that said "Eat too much? Drink too much? Pepto Bismol!"

It blew his mind that he was entering a country where a) it was even possible to eat or drink too much, b) that it was a problem, and c) that it was a big enough problem there was something you could take for it.

  • Same with Doctor Who... it's not a franchise FOR kids, it's a scifi/fantasy franchise that kids CAN enjoy.

  • "What's the first app you installed on your smart phone?"

How many of these accounts can now be compromised by answering X/Twitter/Facebook/Instagram/What'sApp?

  • Only place it makes sense is Hawaii because it's all shipped in and there's not enough land to supply local stuff to everybody.

  • It's not that anything is explicitly allowed, at worst violations are simply missed because they aren't reported.

Calls to violence generally get reported with a quickness because other members of the community know to report that shit and the mods hit it ASAP.

  • Avatar 2 came out in '22. Same basic plot, but the water effects are stunning.

3 is completed and will be out for Christmas. 4 and 5 are in the pipeline.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avatar:_Fire_and_Ash

(All the trailers on YouTube so far are AI Bullshit, be warned).

    Avatar 4 and 5:

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avatar_4

"it is scheduled for release on December 21, 2029.[8][9] A sequel, Avatar 5, is in development and is expected to be released on December 19, 2031."

  • In Star Wars, Vader interrogates Leia, he talks about the plans being transmitted, not that he saw them personally be stolen.

He's also ragged on by Motti for not having found the tapes when Rogue One puts him in the same hallway with them.

Speaking of... he force grabs every one and every thing in that hallway except the ONE THING he's there for. Vader is not that STUPID.

The Death Star Plans have plot armor, they HAVE to get away, don't put them in the same hallway as Vader and don't make them a physical object that can be grabbed.

  • My favorite "oops" story... Guy went camping and wanted to keep the food in the cooler REALLY cold so he used dry ice instead of ice.

Accidentally created carbonated grapes. People have duplicated the effect with home soda machines.

    Google "Fizzy Grapes".
