  • I was in college when this came out and, yeah, it was super cool... but nobody could afford to own one at the time.

There were two form factors, the Cube and the Pizza Box.

The Cube was $8,000 in 1990 dollars.

    The Pizza Box was $5,000.

If you run that through an inflation calculator that's the equivalent of $19,279.50 for a cube or $12,049.69 for the pizza box.

  • Man, you phrase it like that and I am TOTALLY Pro-Cupholder. LOL.

  • Everyone who engages in a post I made gets an upvote.

Everyone who replies to a comment I made gets an upvote.

If a post is interesting enough to me to comment, it gets an upvote.

  • Worth pointing out when the religious right wing tries to re-brand "Pro-Life" as "Pro-Baby".

  • Gunn had no input on it, he does consider BB the first character of the new continuity, but Supes will be the first film.

  • We don't agree.

I'm saying if someone posts the same thing repeatedly to your community that's spam and as a mod you can and should deal with it.

If you don't like seeing the same thing posted in your personal feed over and over again, that's the fault of your own personal feed subscriptions and is not, by any definition, spam.

If you don't like that someone dares to post something in your community that has been posted somewhere else, you have no clue how any of this works and shouldn't be modding anything.

  • In YOUR community, yes. You have no say over what gets posted to OTHER communities.

If you want to legitimately block content that has been posted elsewhere you will soon find yourself with no content to moderate at all.

  • Again, if it's relevant to each group, it's cross posting, not spamming. Spam is irrelevant or unwanted content.

  • Cat:

"Workers could be liberated from this experience by seizing the means of production..."

  • Yeah, but who's the bad guy here?

Black Manta is pissed, but Aquaman did get his dad killed in the first one...

  • Because, for a lot of people, the economy isn't improving.

Say you were on the verge of buying a house, interest rates have doubled, are at a 22 year high, and now you're priced out of the market.

Or, say you're like me and bought a house in 2021 with a 3.25% interest rate. You're locked in. You can't sell your house, a) because nobody could afford the 7% it's going to take to buy it and b) you likely can't afford the 7% it will likely take to buy a new house.

Refinancing isn't an option because who wants a higher rate. Ditto for a 2nd mortgage.

And this doesn't even get into rising food and fuel costs.

  • As long as they're relevant it doesn't matter how many communities they post to, here's why:

It would only be seen multiple times by people who also subscribe to those same communities.

Anyone who subscribes to just one of them would only see it once. So if users were only allowed to post to a single relevant community, that would mean users not in the "right" one wouldn't see it at all.

So, for me, I subscribe to:

    politics@kbin.social
    politics@lemmy.ml
    politics@beehaw.org
    politics@lemmy.ml

    And I mod politics@lemmy.world

So, yeah, something happens, I'm going to see it 5 times, but that's on me for subscribing to 5 politics communities.

Someone posts only to politics@beehaw.org? A user only in politics@lemmy.world would never see it.

As long as it's on topic and doesn't break the rules, it's not spam.

Now, in our group, low effort meme posts are removed, that's spam. Users who ONLY post that, over and over to dozens of irrelevant groups get banned.

  • Crossposting to multiple relevant communities isn't spam.

Spam is inherently unwelcome content, and if it's relevant to the community, it's fine.

I moderate one of the politics communities and subscribe to multiple, so when some news event happens, I get blasted.

OTOH, trolls were posting stupid meme images all over the place last night that had nothing to do with politics or any of the other groups they were posting in, that's Spam and was removed.

  • Luke called it out in Star Wars, but then, he is a little short for a Stormtrooper...

  • From what I can see, the real underwater stuff in WoW is way better than the "underwater" shots in Aquaman.

  • Looks like a decent flick.

Bonus - referencing the blue camoflage suit is cool, always liked that:

But, man, shooting dry for wet still looks like crap.

  • How does this jive with the PAC-12 basically dissolving and joining the Big 10 though?

  • Looked at it and went "Eh, could be interesting, but I don't buy EA games and it will be $20 at Black Friday."

  • Looks like a decent flick.

  • Blue Beetle and Aquaman are the last two.
