  • Some people pay extra for that... :)

  • Oh, there's a lot to be said for the important part, notably how it shouldn't be an advisory for the United States GENERALLY, but rather certain, specific (red) states.

I'm certain the West coast would welcome Canadians of all stripes. Gulf coast? Eh... erm... em...

  • I was surprised at the 7 scores until I caught the bit about how it's all fast travel. You can't just start on a planet, take off in your ship, point it at a moon or something and fly there.

OTOH, how boring would it be having 1:1 space travel?

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penn_%26_Teller%27s_Smoke_and_Mirrors

"Considered by Penn to be the "best part" of the collection, Desert Bus is a simulation trick minigame and a featured part of Electronic Gaming Monthly's preview. It is the most notorious minigame in the actual game. The objective of the game is to drive a bus from Tucson, Arizona, to Las Vegas, Nevada, in real time at a maximum speed of 45 mph (72 km/h). The feat requires eight hours of continuous play in real time to complete.[2][3]

The bus contains no passengers, there is little scenery aside from an occasional rock or bus stop sign, and there is no traffic. The road between Tucson and Las Vegas is simplified compared to the real highways: it is now completely straight. The bus veers to the right slightly, and thus requires the player's constant attention.[3] If the bus stops, or veers off the road it will stall and must be towed back to Tucson, also in real time. If the player makes it to Las Vegas, one point is scored. The player has the option to make the return trip to Tucson for another point, a decision which must be made in a few seconds or the game ends. Players may continue to make trips and score points up to a maximum score of 99 points, which requires 33 days of continuous play. Although the landscape never changes, an insect splats on the windshield about five hours through the first trip, and on the return trip the light fades, with differences at dusk, and later a pitch black road where the player is guided only with headlights.[2] The light eventually returns at dawn, but due to a programming bug it will cycle endlessly between dawn and night for the remainder of the game. The game cannot be paused."

  • "2SLGBTQI+" add one lower case letter and it's a secure password for something. Has it officially become self parody at this point?

  • 2 years doesn't seem like enough, does it? Dude literally put a price on someones head...

  • Just googling, I don't see any confirmation. You'd think TMZ or Worldstar would be all over it.

  • One of the Jackass guys.

  • The loophole is NOT the problem. Each of the recent shooters PASSED their respective background checks.

The problem is the background checks contain incomplete information.

    Look at the Jacksonville shooter:

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Jacksonville_shooting

"In 2016, he was the subject of a domestic police call between him and his brother.[4][14] In 2017, he was the subject of a Baker Act call, used to place persons under involuntary detainment for mental health examination for up to 72 hours.[6]"

    https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/27/us/jacksonville-florida-shooting-sunday/index.html

“In this situation, there was nothing illegal about him owning the firearms,” he said.

The background check only looks for convictions. Not arrests, not involuntary mental health holds, convictions.

So when he filled out the ATF form 4473 to buy the guns, and hit line 21h. "Have you ever been adjudicated as a mental defective OR have you ever been committed to a mental institution?" He legally answered "No" and his Baker act hold was NOT a blocker to that.

There's a legal distinction between "committed to a mental institution" and "placed on an involuntary mental health hold."

I would argue, for the purpose of buying a gun, there should be NO difference there.

He probably have pinged on line 21d. as well. "Are you under indictment or information in any court for a felony, or any other crime for which the judge could imprison you for more than one year?"

There was a police call on domestic violence with his brother (who is in jail for armed robbery), but he was never arrested or indicted. Not on the background check. He legally answered "No" - background check goes "Yup! He's clear!"

  • "I got an '18' again! You?"

"Somehow, and I don't know how this happened, I'm usually very, very good, but I can't say I've ever been quite this good, must be all the practice I've been having hosting LIV, you know LIV, right? She's great, fantastic golfer. Anyway, I got a '12'."

  • On instagram it's @thebluehousepdx.

I'm waiting on some last bits before it's all set out.

  • As of August 16th through the 23rd, Trump had a 42 point lead over Desantis in Georgia:

    https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/president-primary-r/2024/georgia/

So claiming a win is no big surprise.

The only thing that might change that are the televised trials starting with Chesebro on 10/23, we don't have trial dates on Sidney Powell (the other Speedy Trial request) or anyone else.

The primary is on March 12th, so that's almost 5 months of televised trials that might change opinion.

But as of right now? Yeah, Trump is at 57% with a 42 point lead over the #2 spot, and nobody else is close.

  • Depends on the size of the bookstore. ;)

I was gifted a Little Free Library for my birthday. Total cost for the whole kit was about $800... Without books.

I spent about another $350-$400 populating it, getting business cards, an Instagram account, etc.

I'm not running it as a business, it is a Free Library after all, but I already have one bookstore donating stock in return for cross promotion.

  • Yeah, never once heard that definition ever.

  • Outlook the other day insisted it was better opening links in Edge instead of my default browser... Yeah, I shut THAT down...

  • This hits a little close to home since my wife is an elected Precinct Committee Person or PCP.

One of her duties, since Oregon is a vote by mail state, is to monitor ballot drop off locations for any tampering or intimidation.

The last few elections I've gone with her, I wouldn't dream of letting her do this alone in our climate.

Nothing has happened, since we're in the bluest part of a blue state, but man, I could completely see it happening.
