  • People give apple a lot of crap and I get it. But they are still by far the best user experience laptop. There’s a reason with all that walled garden stuff. It’s good hardware and software when used by anyone with the purpose of just using it and not needing to tinker with it.

I’m at a point where I don’t mind the idea of diversifying my time with Linux more. I have an older pc I have mint for fun and a steam deck. Just worried one of these days apple will mess macOS up to the point of no return and Linux will be my lifeline.

  • It’s a damn shame if that toxicity is permeating through Lemmy. Once I really feel no difference between here and reddit on that front, I’d rather go back to reddit unfortunately.

  • I went back this week because I noticed narwhal 2 finally came out. I loved narwhal and we waited such a long time for the new app to come out. Outside of using Reddit in search engine results, I looked around with the new app. And people are so mean and rude on Reddit I forgot how toxic it can get there. Made me really appreciate lemmy.

Narwhal 2 will eventually need to start charging. It was nice to finally get a glimpse of it because it goes paid.

  • I partly think m1 is just so good no one has any appetite to upgrade. But also shit do be expensive. For me it’s repairability. I’m seriously considering not getting another Mac at my next upgrade cycle unless something changes soon.

  • I cancelled Netflix last month. I paid for it for about 10 years. I even had a dns set up to get US Netflix years before it even came to Australia. Because it was such a good product at the time. It hasn’t been worth it for a few years now but the software was good and it was cheap enough to keep around.

  • It’s trying to give him a little credit to justify messing up a purchase that large.

If the intention wasn’t to shut it down or disrupt then everything that’s happened is literally just Elon being a complete dunce. Which is definitely more likely, but scary to think someone can be that reckless with 44 billion dollars

  • That’s what I thought too. If I was getting one now id be inclined to get the digital plus add on drive so the drive is more replaceable.

I was trying to wait for the slim but got an og a few months ago during a really good sale. I’m not too bummed about it as I thought it’d be slimmer.

  • It looks awesome and glad this market is getting more competition. But if it runs windows it’s an automatic out for me. Steam deck is just a great balance of power and efficiency while supporting Linux gaming.

  • They’re seemingly making windows less and less enterprise friendly. Which I thought was their bread and butter. It’s crazy since they’re not even competing with other OS on a price level. Linux is free and MacOS is free but with hardware. It’s like MS is purposely tanking Windows I don’t get it.
