Can someone chime on who has used Blender with both and AMD GPUs vs Nvidia? Everything I could find out (which is surprisingly little) is that AMD is much slower (no real Cuda/Optix equivalent?) but I have no idea if that is true.
I only ever had Nvidia GPUs (for Blender 3d work) and while it can be kind of a hassle still it has gotten soooo much better, I ran Bazzite for a hot minute (not anymore since my graphic tablet doesn't work with it) and it just worked ootb. On Kinoite now which was the usual "install these 500 packages via commandline" (but this time via rpm-ostree) but it still works fine.
Selfcare is a very important part of being an activist (a lesson I'm struggling woth a lot myself).
Not because you're of use to noone if your burnt out but because we need to try to live the better world we're fighting for. So choose your battles as they say and take time off and take care of yourself.
If demonstrating feels pointless (I know the feeling) try to find your niche, maybe something local where you can see the results. Work in a shelter or a charity or a garden project, whatever is important to you. You (probably) can't change the world but you can change a tiny bit of it
I have an account at tube.tchncs.de and just paste the url from accounts on other instances into the search there and then follow them, that works most of the time, sometimes you have to follow them at their instance when the search brings up no results. I wish more creators would use it, I think you can also stream with Peertube?
Yes, Libro.fm is so cool!Their prices always really hurt me when I buy stuff but I guess it's the same as with local/organic food, things costs more when there isn't an international evilcorp behind it evading taxes, paying employees only pennies and all the evil shit calitalism enables ...
Depends on what you want to use it for. As others have said Nextcloud is super popular, I'm also a fan of https://syncthing.net/ to keep stuff synced across devices
