  • That brings it's own share of risks as well. Like getting scammed for example.

  • I use Vanadium for that level.

  • In all honesty, I am not sure if you can sync, but I think I've seen librewolf and Mull being able to sign in to a Firefox account. I don't sync anything unless I self-host, so I have my linkwarden for all my bookmarks needs.

I've heard of a self-hosted alternative to Firefox accounts, but I would need to research that a bit.

  • Librewolf for anything that does work, Brave for anything that works only on Chromium based, and Mullvad for all the crazy.

On Android it's Mull and Mulch.

  • I get that, and it makes sense. What pisses me off is that this is the type of information all users should have access to before they decide to sign up or not.

That sneaky shit is what made me start on the track of removing myself from all the mainstream networks out there.

  • Your "ideally would want" pretty much locks you to a Pixel phone. The 7 has serious radio issues, the 8 works great (I had the 7 Pro now have the 8 Pro, no always on GrapheneOS) and don't know about the 9, but other that all the AI bullshit they are pushing with it, I don't really see that the specs justify those prices, specially since you're looking at installing GrapheneOS on it.

  • Wise suggestion, really.

  • Then you must not be very bright. All my Logitech and Razer hardware just works on every Linux distro I jump on while distro hopping.

  • I like Calyx quite a bit. It's considerably more private than any stock Android out there. However, from my perspective, GrapheneOS is the best mobile os out there for security and privacy too, hands down.

I run GrapheneOS on my Pixel 8 Pro, tried Calyx back when I had the 6 Pro, and it pretty good and everything basically works, but GrapheneOS from the beginning is so vanilla, only has a couple of apps installed (phone, sms, Calc, files and such), everything else you need to choose to install.

  • Yup. That alone is enough for me to just ignore a software and keep moving.

  • CalyxOS also allows to relock bootloader on some devices (not sure if only Pixels though).

  • I suggest you flash via etcher and try again. That's usually either a bad flash or secure boot making your life miserable.

  • I believe that most self holsters actually are more hobbyist lifestyle than people with actual tech background.

I read and research a whole lot, which has taken me down this rabbit hole.

  • I like you.

  • And now I'll never go to a game again. Fuck'em.

  • The content of this document is not accessible. Nevertheless, a request for access can be sent to the Access to documents department.

    Shady as fuck too.

  • That's debatable. It will depend on how radical we each are willing to be about our privacy individually.

For example, I have a friend that is sort of a privacy freak like me, however, he's chosen to keep WhatsApp because some of the people in his life won't use anything else.

I, on the other hand, do not have a single mainstream app or social network. Those who never heeded my warning 8 years ago that I was killing it all, and if they wanted to talk with me it was either Signal or visit me, basically fell off of the world for me.

Those I really care about have gone as far as moving to SimpleX with me. Most still use mainstream crap, but they chose to add SimpleX to their apps so that we can keep in contact regularly.

What I'm saying is, your success at how much you keep from the paws of big tech and big brother (regardless of where you live) will be inversely proportional to your ability to give a fuck. The less fucks you give, the more ground you'll cover.
