  • Interesting, that is a lot of blocking, and it seems like a really small pool of certain types of people and information!

You know what you only want to see; thanks for sharing your views on the matter.

  • Edit: added sentences below quote

If you’re just gonna dismiss every media outlet

I am not dismissing it, I am just pointing it who funds and controls them.

Billionaires and corporations continue to buy up media.

Tim pool and Dave rubin and friends are literally russian mouthpieces no matter who says it.

They say this about the "far left" and the "far right", I am critical of these talking points.

  • IMO:

Thanks for another owner-class media article.

    unwitting right-wing American influencers

    "Far-right" and "Far-left" American influencers.

I wonder which journalists in MSM get propped up by the owner-class; it seems many like to follow the status quo, whether they are "left" or "right" leaning.

Federal officials have accused Russia of using unwitting right-wing American influencers in its quest to spread Kremlin propaganda ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

Tenet was founded in 2022 by Lauren Chen, a conservative Canadian YouTuber, and her husband, Liam Donovan, whose X profile describes him as president of Tenet Media. Chen hosts a show on Glenn Beck’s BlazeTV and is a contributor to right-wing activist group Turning Point USA. She wrote opinion pieces for RT in 2021 and 2022.

What sets the RT operation apart from many other interference efforts is that it appeared to reach a real audience, thanks to the recognizable names attached.

After Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, many American cable distributors dropped RT’s U.S channel, RT America, from their lineups, and it eventually shut down production. The video scheme allowed RT to covertly reach American audiences without a presence on the airwaves, the indictment alleged.

“There was no influence exerted over me in that way. There's no change in my perspective or the nature of my content,” said Matt Christiansen, another Tenet Media contributor, in a livestream on Wednesday evening. “How am I unwittingly duped into saying someone else’s words when I wrote every one of them?”

  • I am critical of a lot, especially MSM and government.

    indictment give you any pause

The history of dissedence, our civil rights activists, and many more has something to do with my views on this.

My views may change a bit when I check independent journalists and independent media, as well as owner-class media.

Word of the day, for me!

    tenet /tĕn′ĭt/ | noun

    1. A doctrine, principle, or position held as part of a philosophy, religion, or field of endeavor.
    1. Any opinion, principle, dogma, belief, or doctrine, which a person holds or maintains as true.
  • Please, let’s not get into this habit of creating communities without having any clear purpose. It only makes things look even deader than they already are.

    TIL, people follow that rule.

I try to keep my communities active, not sure you can say that about the others though.

  • hahaha, interesting, thanks for the questions!

do we really a whole community for that?

    Why not.

It is just another new community like many on lemmy.

What do you want to talk about it there?

People can talk about SponsorBlock and the like.

  • This trail is a major breaking point for the American Empire, another Russiagate people continue to fall for.

I suggest to also check out independent journalists and others you do not agree with, just to push your bias a bit.

Also: OP,can you stop saying “IMO”. It’s your comment… we already know it’s your opinion.

hahaha, I was making sure, can't be too safe on lemmy.

  • Trump Derangement Syndrome aside, I say to pay more attention to the Uhuru III trail taking place in Tampa, Florida.

This owner-class article should give you the status quo talking points and basics.

  • IMO:

US it’s all about how likely you are to repay your debt.

Yes, playing the game how they want you to will keep you in the safe area.

Not, like, how many times you heil Xi or avoid eye contact with Pooh bears (I joke) (or do I?)

If you follow the free speech news and the political tribalism in the US, you would see that we do not differ that much with the China calims being said.

It seems like every day we get closer to what negative things we say about other foreign nations.

Check out which independent journalists have been detained and which are being censored.

  • TIL, cool for them.

I use other YT forks and systems that already implement similar techniques even if they are "good" or "bad" ads.

I am also for Sailing the High Seas.

We have a difference in opinion on this matter, but thanks for the small chat and the link!

This is the section you are talking about:

    SponsorBlock

This year, a developer worked on implementing support for SponsorBlock in NewPipe. SponsorBlock is a crowd-sourced database listing sponsored sections in videos, which are automatically skipped by clients such as web browsers, using extensions.

While SponsorBlock’s implementation apparently takes care to preserve user privacy (you can, e.g., download the entire database for offline use, and its regular querying system is also well made), it targets an ethical advertising system. Its purpose is to help users, who probably don’t realise that sponsorship is one of the most ethical ways to fund their favorite content, automatically skip sponsored sections of videos.

Morally, it’s a very questionable system. Of course, some sponsoring may be of little relevance to the user, or maybe even intrusive or hidden. But SponsorBlock doesn’t differentiate between ethical and unethical advertisements. It just skips all kinds of sponsored sections.

  • That’s not your opinion.

    Okay.

Not all ads are invasive soul seeking tracking nightmares

Ads are ads; it doesn't matter if they are "good" or "bad," unless you want to watch them like most people do because they don't mind or they don't know how to block them.

no, there are not “many ways” for content creators to do that full-time.

If they do not get the engagement or funds they need, they will either paywall or find other ways to support themselves; or they will just not make it on YouTube or streaming, like many people before them, unless they continue to fight on while learning and failling.

This reminds me of some small business talks; it is a harsh capitalistic world; you give up or keep trying.

I still say grassroots funding and support is the way to go if they are just doing it for the hobby or for what they believe.

  • IMO: Ads are ads, even if they come from the creator themselves.

People will support them if they can and if they want to.

Many ways to support them, direct funding, talking about them, making communities, and other stuff.

  • Jumping in:

My Android is my primary device so I don’t get the alt text.

Use a YT fork, you can customize it to some of your liking; Some come with SponsorBlock enabled right out of the box.

Yeah, I just click on video to check titles, unless you copy and paste yt url then go to a front-end website.

    Or Louis Rossmann yt fork...

  • True.

IMO: People bash China for their alleged "Social Credit System," but in the US we have a credit score system and many other government agencies that are there to collect our data; it all seems like wishful thinking while also following the status quo talking points, so the American people don't pay attention to what our politicians and those in power are doing to the working class.

  • IMO: Political tribalism, to be more exact.

The owner-class and their lackeys will get away with much more when we compare the working class being sent to jail, 13th Amendment and all.

    Thirteenth Amendment

    Section 1

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

    Section 2

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.^[[1] https://constitution.congress.gov/constitution/amendment-13/]

  • Edit: grammer, format, spelling, flow

    IMO: Political tribalism.

They might be following the online narrative that the game is getting in their circles.

I check out other social media, so I see a bit of both sides.

On the other end, it is a really popular game that did not follow the PC culture wars that other games follow, per Sweet Baby Inc..

Sweet Baby Inc. is a Canadian narrative development and consultation studio based in Montreal. Founded by former Ubisoft developers, including scriptwriter Kim Belair and product manager David Bédard, the company consults on video game narratives during development to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within game narratives and studios.

LMK if I am wrong or if anyone has more information.

  • IMO: The Russiagate hoax was a hoax, similar to the Tulsi Gabbard and Jill Stein smears and many others.

It would be really interesting if a duopoly ex-president can be sent to trial and jailed; it would open it up for our past and future presidents being sent to trial and jail as well. It would be awesome if they were sent due to war crimes!

  • I agree; growing crops and having a healthy garden takes a lot of labor, time, and multiple tries.

When ever I see and marvel at a new local community garden or personal garden, the first thing that does not come to mind is "that looks easy."
