  • Just to make sure you understand, this article was written by Ethan Dodd, not the Zionist Bari Weiss.

Ethan Dodd is a journalist who lives in Washington DC and focuses on business and economics.

She did create The Free Press, though.

    About The Free Press:

The Free Press is a new media company founded by Bari Weiss and built on the ideals that once were the bedrock of great journalism: honesty, doggedness, and fierce independence. We publish investigative stories and provocative commentary about the world as it actually is—with the quality once expected from the legacy press, but the fearlessness of the new.

  • Wow, awesome!

If interested, you should look into the billionaires that own a good amount of California water, and the politicians that help them.

    TIL

YOU CAN'T CUT BACK ON FUNDING! YOU WILL REGRET THIS! is a catchphrase originating from the video game Sim City 2000, where it is shouted towards the player (the mayor) by the transportation advisor if he attempts to cut transit funding.

While it isn't the character's name, he is sometimes referred to as "Norm" due to his similar appearance to Norm Abram of This Old House.[9]^[[1] https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/you-cant-cut-back-on-funding-you-will-regret-this]

This Old House, The New Yankee Workshop, and Ask This Old House are great shows to learn DIY skills!

    For those interested in Norm:

On May 19, 2022, it was announced that after 43 years, Abram would retire from the show. A one hour special titled The House that Norm Built aired online and on PBS stations on October 3, 2022, surveying his career with the program.[11][12]

In 1988, Morash planned to launch a spinoff of This Old House called The New Yankee Workshop, featuring Abram. They needed a convenient place to videotape, and used the shop in the small building that Abram built in 1979 in Morash's backyard.[10] The shop's layout and equipment were expanded and adapted to match Abram's preferences, in a space measuring 36 by 26 feet (11.0 by 7.9 m).[13][14] The New Yankee Workshop was first aired in 1989 with Abram as the host.[4] The program showcased furniture or other projects and emphasized classic, elegant designs, made using a combination of simple handtools and newer power tools and equipment.[4] The show aired for 21 seasons on PBS, then was suspended indefinitely as Abram decided to focus on other projects.[10][15][16]

He has also contributed to efforts to train younger students in the building trades, such as the Generation NEXT apprenticeship program.[10]

More recently, he bought a new old house in Rhode Island near the coast, where he plans to build a new woodworking shop, and he is also interested in learning shipbuilding.[16][23]^[[2] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norm_Abram]

  • I am not a fan of Zionist Barry Weiss, but I thought the article was informative.

I posted a Jimmy Dore (some cannot handle his views/commentary, so be warned) critique of Barry Weiss once I saw her association.

Thanks for the Axios article; it does not mention:

A final irony: On the same day Biden blocked the Nippon Steel deal on “national security” grounds, the U.S. approved the sale of $3.6 billion worth of air-to-air missiles to Japan.

    Axios:

President Biden blocked Japan's Nippon Steel from buying U.S. Steel last week, earning the approval of the United Steelworkers union, which desperately wanted the deal crushed.

    The Free Press:

The far more likely result, however, is that Pennsylvania steelworkers will soon be out of work, as U.S. Steel had vowed to move to non-union Arkansas if its deal with Nippon Steel were turned down.

Local union leaders from two of the three Mon Valley plants supported Nippon, with Jason Zugai, vice president of USW Local 2227, saying that 95 percent of the union members at his Irvin Works support the deal. U.S. Steel’s corporate executives, elected officials, and hundreds of workers rallied to show their support in late November.

In other words, in kowtowing to a union leader who has been a long-time political ally, Biden ignored the wishes of an important ally, Japan; members of his own cabinet; and the union workers themselves. He is also hurting the country, which would be far better served if Nippon Steel reinvigorated U.S. Steel, something it is uniquely positioned to do.

It reminded me of when Biden helped crush the railroad strike and the union's opportunity for the workers to get better benefits and time off.

IMO: a well done video about the Railroad Stike and Biden, https://lemmy.world/post/24263602

I agree, the duopoly acts like they are for the working class while doing the bidding of the owner class; giving crumbs to the working class does not make them union supporters.

  • In his own words:

Independent, Unencumbered Analysis and Investigative Reporting, Captive to No Dogma or Faction.

He criticizes the duopoly and the oligarchy, but I know those loyal to the duopoly tend to become tribal if people don't outright support one side and hate the other.

Glenn has proven himself as a journalist with his reporting of Edward Snowden and much more.

He does not fall into simplistic political groups, so I understand the frustration some political factions have with people like him.

Which people do you recommend if Glenn Greenwald does not meet your standards?

  • “The ultimate test of a society’s freedom is not how it treats its good, obedient, compliant citizens; it’s how it treats its dissidents.” - Glenn Greenwald

  • Oh, that is not new; it is the status quo.

The United States is controlled by the oligarchy.

We have legalized bribes; it just gets called lobbying.

The duopoly is ruled by the owner class, who also have a huge say in what policy is pushed and what is passed into law.

Bill Gates and other billionaires do have a direct line to all politicians, but you are right; Elon's actions are much more in the open, especially with his online persona and presence in full display, similar to Trump, where he blurts out the quiet part out loud for the masses to hear.

  • country for sale bullshit

    Sorry, what does this mean?

  • True!

What is going on with their manufacturing and quality control department?

Well, more robots are being added; I am not sure if the robots would fix any future recall issues, though.

One of the things that Tesla has had difficulty with over the years is the build quality of their vehicles. Whether it be panel gaps or odd creaks and sounds, Tesla's build quality has a stain on it. Even my Model 3 RWD - after about 5,500 miles, has some odd creaks and noises coming from the passenger door while driving.

Tesla has made great strides in reducing panel gaps and other quality issues, but they are still not where they need to be. Tesla is going to install robots to help with this. Also, fascia refers to a vehicle dashboard, so this likely deals with interior quality control.

This quality control will apply to the following Tesla products:

  • Thanks, you made me look more into that event.

I was not sure if it really happened in front of a Trump hotel.

Firework mortars and camp fuel canisters were found stuffed into the back of the Tesla Cybertruck that exploded outside President-elect Donald Trump’s Las Vegas hotel early Wednesday, killing a suspect inside the vehicle and sparking an intense investigation into possible terrorism.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police and Clark County Fire Department officials said that a person died inside the futuristic-looking pickup truck and seven people nearby suffered minor injuries.

Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill said authorities know who rented the truck with the Turo app in Colorado, but are not releasing the name until investigators determine if it is the same person who died.^[[1] https://apnews.com/article/trump-hotel-vehicle-fire-las-vegas-ad4c171c7a6af64f08db93d9fdc2d749]

  • Tesla sits at the top of the list when it comes to total vehicles recalled in 2024, with 5.1 million cars compared with 4.3 million for No. 2 Ford. The futuristic-looking Cybertruck is one of Tesla's most expensive vehicles, with prices ranging from around $80,000 to $102,000, depending on trim. The price can go up more as well, based on add-ons such as the Full Self-Driving mode, which tacks on $8,000 (and which isn't fully autonomous, in spite of its name).

Though Tesla hasn't announced any official sales numbers, Forbes estimates that 28,250 Cybertrucks have been sold as of October 2024. Tesla didn't respond to a request for comment.

...recall issued for the Tesla Cybertruck... according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's website:

    1. Incorrect font size on warning lights
    2. Unintended acceleration from trapped pedal
    3. Front windshield wiper can fail
    4. Improperly adhered trunk bed trim can detach
    5. Rearview camera image may not display
    6. Inverter fault may cause loss of drive power
    7. Tire pressure warning-light issue

    Which did you use?

I also think it is a tool being used to help push out whatever content the person using it wants.

It may be seen in the history books as akin to the Industrial Revolution.

The Industrial Revolution, sometimes divided into the First Industrial Revolution and Second Industrial Revolution, was a period of global transition of the human economy towards more widespread, efficient and stable manufacturing processes that succeeded the Agricultural Revolution. Beginning in Great Britain, the Industrial Revolution spread to continental Europe and the United States, from around 1760 to about 1820–1840. This transition included going from hand production methods to machines; new chemical manufacturing and iron production processes; the increasing use of water power and steam power; the development of machine tools; and the rise of the mechanised factory system. Output greatly increased, and the result was an unprecedented rise in population and the rate of population growth. The textile industry was the first to use modern production methods, and textiles became the dominant industry in terms of employment, value of output, and capital invested.

  • I think it is the future of media and content sharing for those that can afford it or know how to use it.

It is just another tool being used to create the content you desire.

Improvements are needed, but I have seen really well-done ones where a general introductory topic is discussed.

  • I think what shifted was the increased identity politics and culture war talks within corporate media and politicians, so as to push more tribalism within the working class.

Instead of continuing the Occupy Wall Street protests, where it is the 99% versus the 1% (the owner class versus the working class), we continue to be divided by the establishment and the duopoly, so as to distract from addressing working-class struggles where most Americans agree on when we are polled.

People can come to the same conclusions without being "Putin puppets" or Russian bots.

Just learning about our military leaks on our forever wars would make many question the United States role in mass murder and the continued funding and bombing of civilians so as to bring regime change wars and "democracy" to the Middle East.

"The ultimate test of a society's freedom is not how it treats its good, obedient, compliant citizens; it's how it treats its dissidents." - Glenn Greenwald

Greenwald is one of those people some thought was about good things, like privacy and freedom, but turns out he’s like elon in his freeze peach absolutism.

You compared Glenn Greenwald to Elon Musk on freedom of speech…

That is already enough to know that you do not watch his reporting directly; you just read or watch one side of the corporate media talking points when it comes to Glenn Greenwald.

    FYI:

Glenn Edward Greenwald is an American journalist, author, and former lawyer. In 1996, Greenwald founded a law firm concentrating on First Amendment litigation. He began blogging on national security issues in October 2005, when he was becoming increasingly concerned with what he viewed as attacks on civil liberties by the George W. Bush administration in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. He became a vocal critic of the Iraq War and has maintained a critical position of American foreign policy. Greenwald started contributing to Salon in 2007, and to The Guardian in 2012. In June 2013, while at The Guardian, he began publishing a series of reports detailing previously unknown information about American and British global surveillance programs based on classified documents provided by Edward Snowden. His work contributed to The Guardian's 2014 Pulitzer Prize win and he was among a group of three reporters who won the 2013 George Polk Award.

  • "I do apologize for any strife or trauma, but it had to be done," the Ivy League graduate reportedly wrote in a manifesto admitting to killing UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson. "These parasites had it coming."

Luigi Mangione—the 26-year-old man arrested in Pennsylvania Monday on gun charges and suspected of last week's assassination of UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson—was carrying a manifesto condemning insurance industry greed, police said after his apprehension.

New York Police Department (NYPD) Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said Mangione was in possession of a 9mm handgun—possibly a ghost gun made with numerous parts or a 3D printer—the type used to kill Thompson, as well as a silencer and what he described as an anti-corporate manifesto.

Three bullet casings were inscribed with the words "deny," "defend," and "depose"—a phrase commonly used by critics to describe insurance industry tactics to avoid paying patient claims. UnitedHealth, the nation's biggest private insurer, is notorious for denying more claims than any other insurance company.

Mangione's social media posts run the gamut from praising the opinions of right-wing figures like Elon Musk and Tucker Carlson to leaving positive reviews on Goodreads for books including Dr. Seuss' cautionary environmental tale The Lorax and the manifesto of Theodore Kaczynski—better known as the Unabomber.

"He had the balls to recognize that peaceful protest has gotten us absolutely nowhere and at the end of the day, he's probably right," Mangione controversially opined of Kaczynski, whom he called "an extreme political revolutionary."

"When all other forms of communication fail, violence is necessary to survive," he asserted.
