Jill Stein sees 'no lesser evil' between Harris, Trump

This poster seems to have forgotten the times it 'slid up in my DMs' to 'check up on me'...I haven't. :)
This is the poster's posting history from my perspective. 1490+ posts. 3410+ comments. That's over a 61 day period. That's 4900 posts and comments, which comes out to 80 posts and comments a day, 3.347 posts per hour, or roughly once per 17.9 minutes.
The receipts are up there. Thanks @SatansMaggotyCumFart for the work of figuring out this poster's utter dedication to posting.
Oh, I'm 100% with you on this! It comes down to this because we have such a bitterly divided country (and frankly world -- 8 years ago, I was begging to move to Canada, now, not so much), and it's real easy to convince people in swing-states to make frankly absofuckinglutely stupid decisions and vote Third Party.
I was just saying it can be worse. That Stein voter could just cut to the chase and vote Trump to 'burn it all down'...like many said they were going to do in 2016.
I will give this a tiny bit of leyway.
Every vote for Trump is BOTH a lost vote for Harris, AND a vote for Trump. If there are 100 people voting for Trump and Harris as neighbourhood VIP, and 80 of them pledge themselves for Harris and 20 for Trump, it's not a big deal if 50 of the 80 Harris voters decide on Election Day that they'd rather be doing something else than voting, Harris wins 30 to 20, and we're all good. We could even lose 1 or 2 of these votes to Third Party candidates like Stein, and it'd not matter, But if 29 of the 80 voters say "fuck that woman, Imma vote for Trump", then suddenly we need all 51 remaining voters to stay on deck, because if three of them decide to stay home or vote third party, we're fucked. If only ONE of them decides to join the Trumpers, it's game over -- 50/50 tie, and the game is rigged for the Trumpers to get him elected VIP if that happens.
That is what I meant by marginally better. That Stein voter could have betrayed everything they claim to stand for and become a Trump voter, after all!
This poster disagrees that it was guilty of Sealioning. That's amusing.
Dear reader, let's look at what Sealioning is.
In short, it's a form of trolling. Sealioning is defined specifically by the following characteristics:
- A faux veneer of civility. That's because the troll wants to play victim when others lose their sense of civility dealing with said troll.
- Persistence. Another poster here points out how often this poster posts, and it comes out to once every 18 minutes, every hour, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. A Sealion tries to erode one's sense of goodwill and decorum by constantly hounding people that disagree with it,
- A fake attempt to appear to be trying to educate oneself or others.
Sealioning isn't an exact match for this poster's behaviour, but it's damn close. Little petty grammar and spelling nazi comments. Intruding into other people's DMs without permission. Constantly hiding behind the community rules. Using and abusing the fuck out of laws of civility and this community, while having zero intention to do anything but be disruptive, annoying, insulting, condescending, and otherwise just plain unpleasant, secure in the knowledge that we can't call it out for what it is because the Mods have handcuffed us with these silly 'be civil' rules.
The mods have actually tagged this poster with a three day timeout for being a troll. I don't think that gives me permission to carte blanc call this poster a troll, but I can at least point out every time I see it pushing its latest nonsense that the moderator team here has suspended its access for 3 days for trolling. We'll see if the mods let that stay up. Given the nonsense that the mods have let stay up for the person they put in time out for being a troll, I hope it will. Kind of like calling out a convicted thief as a thief, or a convicted fraudster as a fraudster. Just with a silly extra step because we wouldn't want to be uncivil to someone who is wanting to be uncivil to us.
If this poster didn't take our feedback personally, it'd go to its special little corner of Lemmy and post all it wants there, because obviously the community here doesn't like this poster, and finally, the moderation team is saying they've had enough of its shit.
It's here because it really wants to 'show us up', posting incendiary topics, needling posters, pushing this meme that Trump would be better than Harris, and constantly egging on commentor after commentor.
Emphasis on this point.
Jill Stein has NO path to victory. She would require a 50%+1 majority in at least 270 EV worth of states. She doesn't even have 10% of the vote share in any state. Thus a vote for her is only marginally better than a vote for Trump, and about as effective as staying home on Election Day.
This particular poster's shiny object, Rechele Fruit, has even LESS of a chance. This candidate would require 50%+1 in three states, plus a successful write-in campaign for 50%+1 in another nine states (has that EVER happened in a SINGLE state) to get 87 EVs, a far cry from the 270 she needs to be elected. A vote for her is a fart in the wind. She doesn't even make the polling.
One of two people will take the Oath of Office in 2025. If you don't want Donald Trump and Project 2025 shoved up our privates, vote Harris. If you don't want Harris, for whatever reason, may you suffer the consequences of Project 2025 particularly harshly, though I doubt many of the shi...err, posters who post here bashing Harris and the Dems will have to suffer the consequences of their claimed votes.
There's definitely a case to be made for charging Trump under the Stolen Valor Act of 2013. The hard part here will be proving Trump's using his Stolen Valour to "fraudulently claim having received a valor award specified in the Act, with the intention of obtaining money, property, or other tangible benefit by convincing another that they received the award." The penalties for this crime appear to be six months to a year in jail.
The problem here is to get a conviction, you'll have to prove that Trump is getting some kind of tangible benefit, which I'm not sure this Trumpian justice system will do.
Stolen Valour.
Asking pollsters to be mind readers is a bit much, in my book. Besides. How can we count on Conservatives not voting for Trump? In that polling place, with hopes for more Conservative judges, fewer abortions, and more 'Real America', the cagey Conservative can vote for the evil without having to own that vote. I've met plenty of Conservatives who say, "I don't like the guy personally, but I do like my 6-3 court, and Liberals want to take that away from me."
If they vote for us, great! That'll make a marginal victory into a landslide victory, and might push a marginal loss into a solid victory. But we can't count on them. We need to do the work to make sure we get past that 50%+1 margin in at least 270 EVs worth of states and not count on other people to do it. I don't want to wake up Wednesday morning and see that Stein got more votes in the state that we needed to get to 270 than Trump won that state by....
The message here is that you shouldn't count on any of that. Polling has its issues, for sure, and there may very well be a huge win for Harris in unexpected places as Republican voters cross the aisle to deny Trump a seat. Or it may all be a mirage and we're back to leftie voters switching to Third Parties or staying home in enough numbers to give Trump the win. The only way to be sure that we win and Project 2025 and Trump are denied are to turn out as if we're 1% down in the polls. Vote like your vote is the +1 in the 50%+1 that determines who will win. Vote as if every single Republican was going to turn out for Trump and his awful policies. And if you honestly think that we've got this in the bag, vote so that the numbers are crazy. Vote so you can get the landslide.
None of the polls matter except the one that concludes next month, that your State will run. Never forget that.
Why? Al Gore and Richard Nixon both certified their losses, while Bush-41 certified his victory, and every year that the incumbent ticket wins is a year that the VP certifies their victory as VP. What's so different now? Frankly, nothing.
Give it a try and see if the mods let it stand. That's the only way to be sure. And don't expect consistency. After all, this is a part of the rules:
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.
Dear reader, when you read OP's posts, take the time to look at the upvote to downvote percentage. This poster is going out of its way to bash Democrats, and while we can't say why that is (thanks mods!!!), we CAN say that there is a concerted effort by Republicans, Russians, right-wing trolls, and other authoritarians to throw this election to Trump to establish authoritarianism here. Keep that in mind as you read these articles from this poster.
And gets downvoted by ridiculous measures, which I'm glad for.
Hopefully most, if not all, of those 64k unaffiliated voters mark Harris and Trump needs FAR more than 12k votes to steal it.
Absolutely. Carter is an inspiration. Trump is an attention-seeking asshole.
Yeah. My first vote was for Bill Clinton in '92. I voted for him again in '96. I saw no difference between Gore and Bush and didn't vote in 2000. We got the utter shitshow that was Bush 43, but even then I still voted third party in some elections.
No more. Team Red is now Team Fascist, and either Red or Blue will be in office unless and until Team Green or Team Yellow or whatever you got can take more than half of their political ideology's votes.
That's the real problem here. Third Parties cap out at 10% of the total vote, or about 20% of their ideologies' parties vote share. They can't win THIS party's primaries. How can I expect them to win the country?
A couple of points I'd add to this:
- Trump is a symptom, not the cause. Put another way, should Trump choke on an overcooked steak tomorrow and die, the threat won't be ended. The cancer is the entire GQP, not just its leader.
- Americans as a whole have a desire for authoritarianism. 'Make those bad people behave the way I want them to' is endemic in American culture.
- Not only can it happen here, it has, twice, and damn near took our Democracy down with it both times.
Could be, though I'd question the prolificness. I guess that's why the mods come down on us so hard. You can't be certain of anything because...well, there ARE Russian bot-farms, Trumpers (even teams of them operating in tandem), and of course True Believers (tm), and short of catching the guy in the act and examining his rig, you can't be sure what you're dealing with. That said, IMO, there's not really a huge difference between them when it comes to debunking them. A vote for a third party is a vote for the major party most opposed to your third party in the USA. At least until we get RCV in more places!
Heh, indeed. In the end, we have a fight on our hands. If this election were to be decided like it should be, 70 to 30 AGAINST the convicted felon, if not more, then our resident Satanist could be ignored without a second thought. But it's like 50.1 vs. 49.9 in the closest races, the ones that will decide the election in the EC, with the Shitgibbon just a HAIRS width behind Harris, and we've got all the same shitheads that we PROVED in 2016 were in the tank for Russia and Trump, pushing the exact same bullshit that the Dems are the evilest evil since the beginning of Evil and you should totally vote for the Greenie or somebody else or just fucking stay home, and it fucking worked in 2016 and was pretty damn close to working in 2020. And they're using and abusing all forms of social media to keep shovelling their bullshit.
Just 28 days, 4 hours, 11 minutes and 36...35...34 HEHEHE seconds until this shit is over. Here's hoping it ends with the good outcome and not Trump for 4 more years!
