  • Technically, boomer is a synonym for old.

No, technically "boomer" designs people born during the baby boom era after the war up to mid 60's. that's it! Calling a 50yo or even 40yo a boomer is plain stupidity exposed.

  • Boomers start at 40.

OK, so you don't even agree on the initial definition. That's issue, you go in every direction, you call everything the same thing and at the end, you know nothing and you distinct nothing. Just like a pretentious spoiled kid.

I expected some "ok boomer" here AND it did support point, sadly.

  • Yes, people didn't get my comment. We don't have all the choice and luxury to work for a great company or good project. In old Europe, a 1 WFH was an ultimate privilege before COVID. Nowadays, It should be choice, I don't mind coming 2 days a week but it to be a "mandatory minimal" 2 days is a bit ridiculous. Still, If I have my own or max 4 seats offices, I'll be okay with it.

  • call me when you will have:

    • Asahi could provide the same phenomenal power management (consumption, standby/wakeup,...)
    • 2D/3D/Video acceleration
    • thunderbolt 4
    • WiFi AC (not AX as this one is not yet really supported on linux anyway)

until then, yeah, it's cool what the team behind Asahi but I prefer to use my laptop in its full capacity on linux today and for that, ThinkPad and XPS fill the bill, for the premium league i mean, naturally, you will likely to be able to use any laptop without too much pain, ok, maybe not those dual GPUs.

  • if you took non-friendly hardware, don't expect magic. ok, the macbooks up to 2012 were quite hacker friendly but thinkpads are really the to-go laptop for a perfect Linux experience. nowadays, we have more variety: system76, framework, etc...
