Most people don't have a passport. It is expensive and a pain to get one. If you don't ever leave the country, most see no reason to. We don't have national IDs, but we do have state. Technically, they rolled out this new RealID crap that is probably closer to a national id, but you have to pay extra and it is still done through the state. Neither of these are required. If you drive, your drivers license is your ID. Otherwise, you can get a state id so you can get alcohol, weed, cigarettes, and other dumb shit. When you get your ID, you can register to vote right there if you qualify and I think you can get a paper card. There is no reason to go through any extra hoops once you register to vote. You are in the system as a registered voter.

I assure you, you get icy roads and snow at 28-30f. Upstate NY gets tons of snow and most of that is above 25f. I don't see it get in the teens too much. Single digits or colder is pretty rare. All depends on the region up here. Due to the lakes, it is all over the place.

I think the highest speed limit I have seen in America is 85mph, which is around 135km/h. Typical highway speed limits though are 65mph, but everyone goes 5-10 over (105-120km/h).

The nice thing about mph is the whole mile a minute at 60mph. Makes it easy to mentally estimate time of arrival.

Not sure I understand what you are saying. I do a real big twist and then a slip knot. The twist doesn't come undone. I am out of bread or I would take a picture.

I do the same. I don't understand why it puzzles some people. They look at me like I put a padlock on it and I have to undo it for them, which is just pulling the end...

I tie a slip knot. That is stupidly easy to do/undo, but apparently I am hated for it.

I think everyone has explained the how and why, but not any real solutions that don't involve using a completely different application. I don't have an iPhone in front of me, but with Android you can share as a link to Google Photos instead of sending the picture/video directly. I am pretty sure you can do something similar with iCloud. Have her try the share as iCloud link instead.

Update: I just tested it. I had them open up Photos, go to the image/video, tap the share button, and then if you scroll down a tiny bit there is a share as iCloud link. I was able to view it just fine on my Android phone.

One big difference is that one was done by an adult. Now we are faced with a whole bunch of kids who are fucked in the head with far more advanced weaponry compared to 1927. Yet the adults keep ignoring the kids and despite all previous warnings, continue to let it happen. If your child was already previously being investigated for threatening to shoot up a school, then you damn well better help them. Sell your guns and use the money to get them some therapy. If you get calls saying there are going to be shootings, you don't sit there with your thumb up your ass until a bunch of people get massacred, yet that is exactly what happened.

The indifference, apathy, media sensationalism, and bullshit thoughts and prayers just make it worse. As soon as the media stops talking about it, it may as well never happened. Maybe some sob piece months later from the parents, but those are barely a footnote. Our country is fucked. Darkest timeline.

Yeah, on the rpi thing. I know someone who uses something like that for EverQuest. The gist is it looks for monster spawns and can display them on a map instead of camping a spot for over an hour, sometimes more, to get an item you need. The amount of people who use it on some of these servers is supposedly pretty high and it is just looking at network packets I believe. This is a case where I can find it acceptable, especially for an old game that is mostly played by people who have jobs.

I can't fathom cheating though in online games and as a woman I have zero desire to play FPS games with a bunch of immature assholes that will torture me if they find out my gender. The only online FPS I played as a kid that was a positive experience was Serious Sam 1 & 2. A lot of German players I remember. Only other online PVP I liked was in Guild Wars 1.

As someone who has been to these places, yeah, it is usually a bunch of migrant workers or children of migrant workers who already work there. I don't think I have ever seen a white kid, much less adult, fulfilling those roles. They really do give the worst jobs to the people nobody gives a shit about. So yeah, these people are definitely poor as shit.

We used these in university to store weed. Bio kids were awesome and passed them out.

Autistic and neurodivergent people are the only ones I can even begin to relax enough to have a conversation. I have a lot of baggage and being undiagnosed in school was extremely damaging. I love to talk, but I make people uncomfortable. So I usually just sit quietly somewhere, move seats/tables as bigger groups want the space, and eventually leave once the anxiety/torture becomes too overwhelming.

When I learned it was a woman I immediately felt sick. The amount of sexism from these people is disgusting. Once you think about the history of women being "hysterical" and how it was "treated", it even gets more disturbing. I wonder if they would lobotomize her if given half the chance.

The amount of tantrums and cowboy behavior from people in the "industry", which is mostly automated warehouses/robots for me, is ridiculous. I don't fucking care about the schedule when it conflicts with safety. The PM and customer can go fuck themselves. I absolutely despise when people encourage unsafe practices, cut corners, or bully their coworkers for being pussies. These people tell stories of near misses like it is a badge of honor.

JFC on a stick. Lock your shit out. Wear the damn vest. Wear the damn shoes. Wear the fucking hat. Wear all the rest of your required PPE. This isn't Fashion Week in Paris. Everybody should be able to go home every day with all their limbs intact. You are not just hurting yourself. You are hurting everyone. There is no fucking reason to traumatize your coworkers because you were too fucking lazy to lock the equipment out and got your arm yanked into some conveyor. Nobody needs that.

I had a friend do this. It was utter misery for over a year. Most of his teeth were shattered, so he had to wait for a lot of fragments to expel naturally.

Do not discount pain management that involves opioids. Not saying to use them for weeks nor do I know your personality for bad habits, but if it gets bad please don't suffer for no reason. Getting ibuprofen or acetaminophen with low dose codine may be a good middle ground and is even available over the counter in some countries. Extended pain is mentally exhausting and isn't worth the hit on your mental health.

f you are struggling taking pills, get liquid ibuprofen. Sometimes you can get a chemist to make a suspension for you, otherwise get childrens. I do that if my throat gets too infected and I am unable to swallow. Honestly, it works far better than the pills and I needed a lot less.

Best thing is to be honest with your doctors, even if you do not want anything stronger. Be sure to communicate any discomfort due to ill fitting dentures. Ask questions if anything unexpected comes up. My friend's doctor was super shitty and didn't even tell him about all of the left over fragments that still had to come out on their own.

Once I got the right configuration on Obsidian, I like it. I had already embraced markdown beforehand, so "fixing" it to work properly was an immediate requirement or I wasn't using it. It only took 2-3 plugins and a small custom css file. I don't need an editor hiding the markdown syntax or anything other than a mono spaced font.

I get that paper thing. I just lose it eventually. Go go ADHD.

Since I refuse to have Teams and Outlook start on boot, I may have accidentally forgotten to open my email for 6 weeks... Most people just send me a message on Teams anyways.

Also, spam from HR. I am sorry, but your bullshit emails on senseless activities is not being read and immediately binned. The amount of spam emails I get from people in the company is astounding. At my old job I may have taken great joy in reporting each one of them as spam out of spite.
