  • I had him for my college graduation and I felt privileged to have someone who had such a large impact on my childhood there. Really great speaker and definitely gave off the cool vibe. I didn't get to meet him 1-1, but I think a lot of it is subjective, how the person is that day, and the setting. Obviously if someone has done terrible things, especially sexual or abusive, they don't get a pass.

  • Meh. A lot of offices require "business casual", but that is getting relaxed all over too due to the break from workwear during the pandemic. It is common sense at this point. I am glad I haven't had to stress over corporate dress code for a few years now. I felt like I was in highschool agonizing if someone would freak out over a sleeveless shirt or if stretchy black jeans would get called out.

As for uniforms proper, I have seen a tiny bit in the trades, mechanics, etc with jumpsuits or shirts. I just think of it as provided safety gear and clothes that can get dirty without destroying your own.

After working in an industry for over a decade where I had to wear safety vests, shoes, and hardhats, I got over how I looked. The number of idiots that would complain about having to wear a bright safety vest because they didn't look fashionable was ridiculous, and that included me right at first. I at least never refused to do something I was being paid and expected to do because I would get my precious work clothes and bright pink safety "vest" dirty.

ADHD rambling aside, but as long as the clothes are not uncomfortable, sexist, and restrictions are loosened during extreme weather, I will wear whatever within reason. My hair though? Fuck you it is my body and I will do what I want with it, barring having to pull it back at a job site for safety reasons.

  • In a similar industry. Friend used it to write Wireshark dissectors for their interface between the PLC and software system. I haven't used ChatGTP yet, but for certain boiler plate tasks it might be useful. I used to dump tag lists and generate ladder logic with some regex and python to fix the rung numbering within Notepad++. Dumb stuff nobody wants to do by hand.

  • I was looking for this. Some text from webpages end up pasting that way too, even on non-mac systems, and it is utterly infuriating. Nothing I hate more than having to paste something into notepad++ so I can fix all the stupid quotes from some online tutorial that is giving you things to paste into a command prompt.

  • Yes. It is wrong. The gap isn't a big deal when you have both gotten to that mid 20s+, but who we are at 19 and 25 is vastly different. Please don't date teenagers. Don't make mental excuses to justify it. Take the compliment and move on.

  • Engraved is what I have been using on my Sense, which is a similar model. Simple, looks nice with the champagne color of the watch plus my 3rd party band. I don't like a bunch of noise all over the screen.

  • I left Texas many years ago and you couldn't pay me enough to move back. Get out. Go experience other communities, cultures, and locations. Go somewhere where any future romantic partners have actual human rights and healthcare. Go somewhere that doesn't have a state flag as part of its identity. It will be an adjustment, but change can be good.

  • I have huge respect for data engineers. Talk about unsung heroes. Thank you for everything you do.

Oracle gives me a headache thinking about it and once things get complicated with an enormous amount of tables and data, I leave it to people who know better. I will go back to programming PLCs, explaining how a warehouse control system works, and writing code in too many languages at once. That is my happy place. The big bad database can stay over there while I make machinery do my bidding.

  • Thank you for posting this! I haven't read this since I was a kid. I read some of his other books too and watched the miniseries with my dad. I will have to keep a look out for the new adaptation.

  • As someone who has been using AdGuard for years, there are a ton of settings. You can select which apps to whitelist if needed, while blocking everything else. You can put in any exceptions you may need. I had a couple that refused to work that I have to allow through. Make sure you get it from their website if you want to try it out. They even have a master toggle you can add on the notification drawer thingy if you need it.

I don't use anything Facebook or CCP related, so I am unable to attest to any claims of being banned from using adblockers, but don't let that stop you from enjoying an adfree life. I can't stand ads and seeing them stresses me out.

Here is how the screen looks like if you need to modify settings for a specific app:

  • Well. I am a wench. And quite jaded. I wanted to make something I had not really used before, back when I joined the place that shall not be named, and it sort of stuck. I also really love the color green. If it makes you feel any better I am a much happier person today than I was then. Still a wench though. 😈

  • I am so glad I got that out of my system. For now at least. I play around with and program conveyor as my job, so I got a little burnt out at one point seeing it 24/7.

Who am I kidding? The factory must grow!

  • Thank you so much. I feel like I can use Lemmy the way it is supposed to. One immediate feedback I have is it took me way too long to find the add account button. That needs to be in the standard menus somewhere and not a mouse icon.
