  • I'm sorry but Discord and Matrix both suck. They are no place for a community. They're places for a group of friends to chat and hang out, not a place for large discussions. They have a large amount of random crap mixed in with actually relevant info and they both aren't indexed by any search engines. IMO, traditional forums or even Lemmy and Reddit are far better for that.

  • Got a Galaxy Core Prime SM-G360H in 2014 before Samsung started clamping down on bootloader unlocking. It was my first Android smartphone. Was really small and comfy to hold. Specs were terrible though. Used it until 6.0 or 7 on custom ROMs. Dropped it onto the floor one day. Broke the display. RIP.

  • Yeah. I'm Gen Z. I was really taken aback when my high school friends had apps on their phones that showed their real time locations to each other. I was like "WHY?" and they responded along the lines of "Well why not?".... I have no words...

  • I'm so sorry for your loss OP. For cat owners like myself, this is a valuable lesson. If you are letting your cat outside, then please get them to stay inside. And if your cat is an inside cat, please never let them outside. Not only is it a massive danger to your cat, it does great damage to the ecosystem. Please please please KEEP YOUR CAT INSIDE and hopefully you won't have to feel what OP is feeling right now.

  • Would be nice if it was available worldwide. I have no options for virtual credit cards like that in my country. I've been using banking alot for daily transactions but will probably switch back to carrying cash again for smaller things.

  • My current gripe with Android is that some features are done via Google Play Services instead of being integrated into the OS, like Fast Pair or Nearby Share. It's a double-edged sword really. It fixes some of the fragmentation on Android by making those features available to older Android user via a Google Play Services update, but it also removes them from AOSP so AOSP forks like GrapheneOS can't use them without Google Play Services.
