Yep, exactly why I was asking. I think if they're releasing on consoles they think the game is polished enough. I bet they'll continue to drop new content afterwards, but that you'll at least have a "complete" game at that point.

Oh I'm not worried that they won't, but I've been avoiding playing it until it's at least at an official release.

I don't typically go back and replay games, so I wanted to make sure it was basically done before starting it.

Haha, I guess you're implying releasing v1.0 would mean no longer early access?

Can't say I'm really sure what defines early access on steam.

Yeah, I figured 12 switch must have sold well enough that they know they'll make the money. Honestly I think it sold because there were no other launch titles and people were starved for games.

Theyve set things up the same way again (literally only Mario Kart on release), but the marketing on the game and market in general aren't as good.

Exactly, the only real first party game was BOTW (and that also released on the Wii u).

There were some smaller games, like 12 switch/snipperclips/fast rmx, but the switch on release (and most of its life) was struggling for games.

Oh yeah, real physical games are better, no arguement from me.

Just calling out that it could be even worse.

So it'll just take 11 years to even out.

Edit: Just double checked, it's 1 trillion in the "next year or so". So x >= 11 years :(

I always like how people consider modern day countries as if they are the same entity from hundreds of years ago (or longer). Yes there is a through line, but the land China currently occupies has been many different things over human history.

The only reason they sold any was because the console released with like one game, which seems to be the same strategy this time around too.

I mean with this setup you can still sell the game and it keeps a used game market. I don't like not actually "possessing" the game cause we know everything online shuts down eventually, but it's much better than the "physical games" that actually just have a download code.

This isn't some bubble popping or realized losses, this is an entire political movement (Trump and Republicans) literally destroying the world economy. This isn't just going to impact the US, but potentially hurt people in every country.

Its also in no way connected to 2008. What is going on here is independent of that and won't be seen as a lesson to mistakes made in 2008.

I mean the switch already had that with cloud saves and multi-player locked behind a subscription.

The console wouldn't have sold as well without it. Wii Sports definitely contributed to the success of the console.

Yeah, I like their good fellow brand. It walks the line of cheap but fashionable well enough for me.

Outside of that, I appreciate having a brick and mortar store to shop for somethings. Buying things like clothes online is just painful to me.

If you don't play on PC at all, a steamdeck will open you up to a whole new world of opportunity with games that are really cheap.

If you liked BOTW, it's basically that plus a little extra. If you were a little done with BOTW by the end, then it's a bit of a slog.

Personally, the build ability makes most of the puzzles too repetitive. Additionally it feels like most of the game is collecting resources so you can then do fun things (I was even using duplication cheats and it felt like a chore).

I thought Arms was a blast! Like Mario kart or super smash I did a good job of walking the "competitive, but fun" line.

Otherwise I agree, only Splatoon2 was really unique to the switch. Everything else was released on the WiiU.

Not sure if it counts as open world, but a souls-like platformer with some great movement is Blue Fire
