  • That doesn't have me wait for tens of minutes while one core slogs it's guts out and the other fifteen sit there idle.

  • From my perspective the biggest thing wrong with FreeCAD is that it's a single threaded app in a multicore world. If you load large stuff, the app freezes and one core is working really hard for a while.

  • I'm on GrapheneOS now. I like the Sandboxing of Google. A compromise without feeling too compromised. The bank app runs too. Thanks for heads on GrapheneOS.

  • Yet, I'm fine with that. That would solve the reception issue.

  • Here is a crazy idea, nationalize them. Make it a single network with coverage everywhere. No more coverage that is only emergency services only. No more massively duplicate coverage in cities and barely any in the sticks, unless you happen to be on the one network that put a mast in the area.

  • And if Trump gets in again? All the people not crazy going to along with him, or will he be to deploying the army? At what point does the apparatus of state start to split as people within it don't all go with crazy orders?

If I was Putin, or CCP, helping the crazies is the best money spent.

  • Is this a declaration of war? That White House need burning down again? 😉

  • I assumed sarcasm and was agreeing with the actural sentiment. 😃

  • It's a question of national security to ensure we have some we could scale up if we need to.

  • I needed to upgrade phone anyway. This one is over five years old and the camera and CPU seam rubbish now. The RAM is still enough, but screen is cracked too now and screen replace videos just look not worth the effort.

  • Update: Old phone on way out, Pixel coming for me to try this.

  • Good enough with some. Unfortantly with this bank, they use the app to auth access at all. And the app doesn't like custom roms and I've not managed to fool it. Finally trying GraphineOS this week, when the Pixel arrives.

  • Update: This is the path I set for now. Have to replace old phone now anyway.

  • Update: I'm going to try a Pixel and GraphineOS first. I'm expecting very little flexibility and understanding from a bank.

  • Update to this: I did try that on my LineageOS and it still wouldn't run. I'm getting a Pixel for GraphineOS. See how that goes.

  • It can be all that, and subsidize. Some of it is a form of subsidizing. I'd say big picture subsidizing for the environment is ok. The raw market is prone to anti-competitive practices, catch 22, tragedy of the commons, etc. You want the unseen hand and some planning. A mixed economy. Which is what we all have in some form, outside of lawlessness of failed states, where drug/war lords rise and set their own laws/regulations anyway.

  • Basically the only joints we got that are good are the hips and shoulders. The rest of the joint are what evolution could do (so far) with the bag of bones from fish flippers.

  • Argh, sorry. Some how missed the not.

I think we are saying same. Maybe EV ads should talk home charging. Frankly, right now, it's a bit questionable if you go EV without it. Though I met one guy charging at a public charger, who lives in flats and has very high milage. What he does is use a local Tesla charger bank over night at a low rate. But that doesn't scale of course.
