@randomguy2323 I mostly use XMPP, but joining IRC channels with Biboumi just works and I enjoy that. Matrix bridges are awful in comparison. So many problems joining Matrix rooms, so I have given up on it.
@HeartyBeast@trashhalo@hypelightfly Maybe it's a good idea to include the original URL too. In case the link shortener goes offline or something else happens to it.
@ghostermonster@reclipse Matrix implementation of MLS will be called dMLS and not be compatible with the internet standard. There seem to be technical reasons, but not too surprising for a company that couldn't build their product compliant with the existing XMPP messaging standard for no reason I guess.
@THED4NIEL Use whatever tools you want for yourself, EXCEPT for communication. For communication it needs at least two people and the other party now has to use software that doesn't respect their freedom just to communicate with you.
@matricaria There is a community around XMPP. Of course you will find most of them in public XMPP channels, but many are also active in the Fediverse/Mastodon. I don't have any Apple devices, but a few of my friends use Monal ( @Monal ) which seems to be the most reliable client on iOS currently.
@baselessdiscourse The gold standard has always been XMPP. It's the IETF Internet Standard for messaging, no walled gardens, ability to self-host, no phone numbers required and modern clients use the same end-to-end encryption protocol as Signal does.
@ninjan @modpp Globally offline? In the US and maybe in some countries that don't have a stable currency on their own. Anywhere else you can't use it.
